Gensler Teknion Wilsonart Knoll Debner Tandus Kenmark Sue Gorman Assoc. 2011 LOOKING BACK: A NOTE FROM THE HCC DIRECTOR Where has 2011 gone? The Looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil analogy of my August article is still spinning like crazy. Your Houston City Center has brought so many fantastic events to our community that when I think back over the past year, they each stand out as uniquely stellar. In January, we dressed up like board game characters as a reminder of the importance of supporting our legislative advocacy group, TAID. February brought Interior Design students from all over Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana to our fair city to enrich their educational experience with mentoring from our chapter professionals. Our March tour of San Jose Clinic focused attention to our Healthcare Sector, April focused on hospitality and the sustainability of T’afia Restaurant. May was our always impressive Product Runway! June provided us with a Barrier-Free CEU and tour of TIRR Rehab Center, July Crypton CEU, and August Metrocon in Dallas. September kicked off our Membership Drive and Industry Roundtable and in October we got to dress up again in Venetian Carnival Masks at our most successful Art & Artifacts yet. We were so fortunate to be able to tour the Houston Ballet, and we closed out the year with our Jingle Bell Rockin’ Holiday Party! Told ya, still spinning! I also wanted to address feedback that Houston IIDA has received about our event days. Several years ago, we committed to having our monthly events on the third Thursday of every month. Folks in the community have come to depend on that calendar place holder. This fall, for reasons beyond our control, our events have occurred on alternate days. We have heard your voice and agree that our monthly events need to get back on track! Look for future monthly events (beginning in March) to return to IIDA 3rd Thursday. IIDA support can happen in many forms and Houston is incredibly fortunate to have such generous industry support. Join your Houston City Center Council in thanking IIDA Partners for their ongoing support of our events and our organization. We could not bring you the high caliber events that Houston enjoys without their support.
