COURSE DESCRIPTION
Various forms of outdoor recreational activities will be offered to enhance the student’s ability to
participate in alternative lifetime fitness activities.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
A. Demonstrate the ability to effectively prepare for a camping trip
a. Describe the various forms of camping equipment and list the advantages and disadvantages of
those listed
b. List and describe the different types of sleeping gear
c. Describe appropriate clothing for the various weather conditions associated with camping
d. Create menus, food lists, and cooking procedures in preparation for and during camping trip
e. Create check lists for planning a camping trip
f. Demonstrate an ability to properly pack/load all equipment needed for camping trip
B. Demonstrate the ability to effectively set up a camp site
a. Describe the appropriate type of shelter for environmental conditions
b. Demonstrate how to construct such a shelter
C. Demonstrate awareness of safety procedures for trails and camps
