PROJECT SUMMARY
1.
The 40 participants will gather to discuss the
role that MEDIA can play among young people,
with regards to voluntarism and social inclusion.
For 7 days, the participants will work together in
Kaunas, Lithuania, to convey the scale of social
exclusion in their countries, demonstrating who is
excluded in their communities, how and why. The
different stories of exclusion will act as inspiration
for the conception of different videos, aiming to
illustrate how the media industry can influence
young people’s attitudes, both negatively
(encouraging prejudice), and positively
(encouraging voluntary work to help build an
equal society). The videos created will be unveiled
in a final public exhibit.
3.
WORKING METHODS
The teaching method to be
used throughout this Youth
Exchange is a non-formal
style of education. These
methods
include
round
tables, brainstorming, group
work, drawing, theatre, roleplay, simulations and creative
writing

AGENDA
ABOUT KAUNAS
6.
Kaunas is the second-largest city in Lithuania and has historically been a leading centre in
Lithuanian economic, academic, and cultural life; this is exemplified by its strong connections to
industry, trade and services. It is located at the confluence of the two largest Lithuanian rivers,
the Nemunas and the Neris, and near the Kaunas Reservoir, the largest body of water in Lithuania.
The city of Kaunas has a number of parks and public open spaces.
Kaunas downtown area is quaint and compact enabling everyone to stroll around on foot and
capture the picturesque surroundings on camera. Prepare yourself for a great variety of sculptures on
public display. Kaunas' most famous street is fully pedestrianised and runs from the Old Town to the
Church of St. Michael the Archangel, at a near distance of 2km. Two lines of Linden trees, flower beds
and public seating run the length of the avenue. There is an excellent assortment of shops, banks,
supermarkets, restaurants, casinos, nightclubs and museums; as well as a cinema and a tourist
information office.

1. Presentation about your NGO
There'll be a special moment in which
participants will have the opportunity to
present their sending organisations. You can
do this through an oral presentation, a
PowerPoint presentation or bring some visual
aids, such as leaflets, brochures, videos or any
other promotional materials you deem
suitable.
The main idea behind this presentation is for all
of us to get to know your association a bit
better, so that we can keep in touch and
possibly cooperate on future projects.
9.
WHAT TO BRING…
2. Presentation about your country
Have you ever heard of an Intercultural
evening? Global Village? Country
presentations?
Well, in order for us to get to know each other
better and to discover more about our
different countries, we will organise a small
event to celebrate our diversity. We will have
the opportunity to exhibit physical tokens
representative of our country and culture
(space for this will be provided). We’re talking
about food, music, dancing, drinks, images,
videos…etc. So please don’t forget to bring
your flag and any or all of the things listed that
may allow us to see, listen or taste your culture.
3. Clothing
Please bear in mind that we are staying in the
countryside, so make sure to take with you a
pair of comfortable shoes and warm socks. We
will be organising some parties and will have a
night out in Kaunas, so please make sure you
pack some evening clothes as well :) We will
also have the opportunity to enjoy a Lithuanian
sauna; so don’t forget to take your swimming
suit too!!
4. Other
Don’t leave your camera at home; take it with
you to capture every moment!
Towels are provided. Unfortunately, we cannot
provide hair-dryers, so take one if it’s needed.
Keep in mind that October in Kaunas
can be a rainy month, so don’t forget
to take a raincoat and some warm
clothes :)
