Slavery will continue to be a defining issue in U.S. History. The Rio Grande River is finalized as the border between
the U.S. and Mexico. Texas becomes debt free. Some Americans feel Mexico was treated harshly in the Mexican
War and by the terms of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
