The Philadelphia papers seem lo have taken very
seriously our talk about conservatism in newspaper
reporting. You may remember our criticism of the
California paper that reported our band leader as
being nine feet six inches tall. The Evening Ledger
was a little too conservative, however, in referring
to him as our "six-foot drum major."

That terrible racket you heard from the region
of Locust Street last night was caused by a police
patrol wagon stalling in front of one of the fraternity
houses just before the time for the Freshmen to
arrive for the smoker. The brothers turned out and
pushed it down in front of another house, which
aroused the ire of the boys in that place and iccounted
for the pitched battle which lasted for nearly an
hour.
