Where are they now?
2009-2010
India Adams
India got a job with North News and Pictures as soon as she completed
her MA journalism course at the University of Sunderland.
During her first week she reported on the Raoul Moat manhunt
alongside seasoned journalists from national newspapers and other
media organisations.

Pavan Amara
Pavan completed her fast-track course in newspaper journalism with
noSWeat Journalism Training in August.
She has been doing work experience with The Independent on Sunday
as an ongoing placement.

Katie Anderson
Katie finished her multimedia journalism foundation course with Press
Association in May.
She is now a junior reporter at the Bognor Regis Observer and is
working towards the NCTJ’s National Certificate Examination.

Mark Elliott
Mark is working at BBC Stoke, having completed his fast-track
newspaper journalism course with noSWeat Journalism Training in
January.
His role sees him commentating on football matches, writing news and
match previews about local football clubs Port Vale and Crewe for the
BBC Sport website and regularly reading sports bulletins.

Martin Graham
Martin completed an MA multimedia journalism course at Glasgow
Caledonian University.
He spent three months working for Deadline Press & Picture Agency in
Edinburgh while completing his dissertation and portfolio. Martin is
now working for the Evening Times and The Herald newspapers in
Glasgow.

Amanda Hall
Amanda completed her postgraduate diploma in print journalism at the
University of Sheffield in July.
She has been working for her local paper, the Cannock Chase Post, and
has secured a trainee reporter job with the Maidenhead Advertiser
which begins in November.
Amanda will be working towards the NCTJ’s National Certificate
Examination when she begins her new job.

Sophie Maden
Sophie finished her postgraduate diploma in print journalism at the
University of Sheffield and began a three-month editorial internship
with MoneySavingExpert.com, responsible for writing news, guides and
dealing with press enquiries.
She has since had her contract extended and has been offered a job
as a trainee reporter with the News Shopper.

Nneka Opara
Nneka finished her fast-track course in newspaper journalism at
Lambeth College at the end of January.
She has completed a number of work experience
placements including an ongoing one at the South London Press and
another with Press Gazette.
Nneka has also sent contributions to Total Film and is currently working
in PR while she continues to look for jobs in journalism.

Nicola began the second year of her MA journalism course at Kingston
University in September.
She is hoping to arrange work experience placements in January and
April next year.

Paul graduated from the University of Ulster with an MA in journalism.
He has completed work experience placements with the Belfast
Telegraph and Irish News.
Paul is working as a freelance sub-editor with the Irish News while he
begins his search for a full-time job in journalism.

Associates in London, Sam has been working at the Brentwood Gazette,
a weekly paper in Essex.

Lowri Stafford
Lowri got a job as a trainee reporter with the Faversham Times as soon
as she completed her fast-track course in newspaper journalism at
Harlow College.
She had been on work experience there one-day-a-week for the
duration of her course. Lowri also reports for the Medway News and
East Kent Gazette as part of the group, but her main patch is the
Faversham Times.
