Pizz-A-Thon(mock pizza business)
The Pizz-A-Thon: most effective program to teach the link between food, food production

 Learn of the many jobs available as caeers following the journey from slice to soil
 Understand the value of soil & water conservation through experimenting
How the Program Works (learning science, math, health, art, language arts and social studies)
Teams carry out the following activities “in or after school”:

2.Researching and analyzing the many careers involved in the food industry, tracing pizza ingredients to
the source…farm, through livestock, crops and into the soil.
3. Experimenting and discovering the value of protecting top soil from erosion, where growth of
corn and soybeans roots and plants are compared in Plexiglass growth box.
4. Marketing the “prize pizza” using desk top foldout display, logos and placemats and providing a five
minute team marketng report.
5. Growing some of the pizza ingredients in the garden, demonstrating non processed food.
