continue to participate in The Arts throughout their lives. The Arts are one of the main ways in
which humans define who they are. They often express a sense of community and ethnicity.

Commemorative Service The Arts convey the spirit of the people who created them, they can help young people to
acquire inter and intra-cultural understanding. The Arts teach openness towards those who are

different from us. By putting us in touch with our own and other people’s feelings, The Arts
teach one of the great human capacities – how to be empathetic, and to develop compassion

and humaneness. Visual Arts, Music and Performing Arts, provide children with unique and
multiple ways of exploring, forming, expressing, communicating and understanding their own

necessary to understand how their and others’ creativity reflect and depict the diversity of our

the ability to bring people together. At Findon Primary School we believe that participation in

ADDRESSING SCHOOL CONCERNS
Parents are reminded that under no circumstances are they to reprimand or berate other students in the school yard. If
there has been an incident that has occurred between students please be assured that the school has policies and
processes in place to manage this effectively. Under no circumstances is it the parent’s responsibility to speak with the
students concerned regarding any incident. I ask that if there has been an issue that concerns you, please ensure the
classroom teacher knows about the incident first or alternatively you could make a time with Linda or I to discuss the
issue further.
STORM DAMAGE: PEDESTRIAN FOOTPATH OPEN AGAIN
Please remember to inform your child’s teacher or the office, if you do not intend returning to FINDON PS in
2017. Thank you.
I leave you with the following words to ponder…
‘Ability is what you're capable of doing, motivation determines what you do, attitude, determines how well you
do it.’ Raymond Chandler
Have a great week everyone,

A huge shout out to our Findon athletic stars. After a successful result at the BDSSA Athletics Carnival the following students
qualified and represented our school at the Woodlands and Whittlesea Divisional Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 13 th Sept
2016.
A fantastic effort by Akbarr Akbarr, Daniel Lanzetti, Finn Pilli, and Kyan Bortolani (who stepped in for Aden Memeti) who
successfully completed the 100m x 4 Relay. Congratulations to Julia Lanzetti who placed 2 nd in High Jump
and Kiara Jones who also placed 2nd in 800m Sprint.
Second place qualifiers were Julia Lanzetti and Kiara Jones. They both represented the school at the
Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships on Wednesday 12 th October 2016. To represent
the school at divisional and regional level is an awesome achievement and we are
very proud of their achievement.
Thank you to the parents who took the time out of their normal schedule and made

MATHLETICS
Don’t forget to try and log on to Mathletics at least 3 times a week to earn your 1000 points.
Last week, Findon students managed to earn 15 certificates, but in production week that is well down. I challenge more students to
aim for 1000 points at least twice before the end of the year. Home Group 1II continues to lead the certificate race with 63.
Don’t forget to download the Mathletics apps for access on smartphones and tablets.
