ADAPTATIONS – FIT FOR LIFE Pre-Visit Activities Windows on Wildlife Baby bald eagle’s heads are dark colored rather than white like their parents. This is an adaptation, known as camouflage, which protects them from being seen in their nest when they are at their most vulnerable and unable to defend themselves. Definitions Adaptation (a-dap-tā-shən) Definition: a change in a species that makes it more fit for survival in a particular environment Camouflage (ka-mə-fläzh, -fläj) Definition: an adaptation that many animals use to find food or hide from predators. A common form of camouflage is a color pattern that allows an animal to blend in with its environment. Activity – Can You See Me?
