ANNUAL REPORT 2012-13 I am pleased to report that the K-State Alumni Association continued to excel in its overall mission of “Enhancing our Kansas State University family through lifelong involvement” during fiscal year 2012-2013. Membership is up over last year by Dr. Kent Bradley ’88 nearly 1,000 members, making us more than 41,000 strong. And for the 17th consecutive year, the Alumni Association ranks No. 1 in the Big 12 for the percentage of graduates who are members of the Association. These record accomplishments could not happen without a solid plan, dedicated staff, committed board members, and loyal alumni and friends. Details on how these and other accomplishments were achieved can be found in the following pages of this annual report. One area that I would like to give special recognition this year is the database services provided by the Association’s Information Services staff. From behind the scenes, this staff quietly maintains K-STATE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION records for nearly 300,000 alumni and other constituents affiliated with the Association and the university. Without the continued development and maintenance of a finely tuned database it wouldn’t be possible to keep the K-State family connected as well as we are today. I applaud their dedication and commitment in supporting the K-State Alumni Association and the university. Last but not least, the Alumni Association staff and board of directors would like to thank you for supporting the K-State Alumni Association and for keeping the “Family Spirit” alive at K-State. We value your continued support and look forward to the year ahead. Go Wildcats! Association membership is up over last year by nearly 1,000 members, making us more than 41,000 strong. KENT BRADLEY ’88 Valley Center, Kan., chair TODD JOHNSON ’94 Highlands Ranch, Colo., past chair DAVID BROWN ’77 Kansas City, Kan. K-State Alumni Association board of directors With nearly 118,000 K-State family members and friends participating in more than 1,000 Alumni Association activities in FY2013, we surpassed last year’s record for alumni and friends participation by nearly 30 percent. It’s our fourth consecutive year of exceeding prior year records for participation. Our strategic initiatives to enhance the student experience were equally successful. Alumni and friends provided funds that enabled the Association to pay more than $245,000 in scholarships to K-State students. During FY2013, we also celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Alumni Center. The Center, a great source of pride for all alumni, has exceeded expectations. In its first 10 years, the Alumni Center hosted more than 6,500 scheduled events and more than 500,000 visitors. David Mayes ’96 It’s a privilege for the Alumni Association to serve as “your link for life” to the university. Your continued support enabled us to achieve many goals last year. As the “keeper of traditions” for the university, the Association played a key role in supporting the university’s 150th anniversary celebrations. We had many opportunities to showcase our extensive collection of memorabilia and bring alumni together in reminiscing about their years at K-State. MARY HOW ICE ’80, ’88 Westlake, Texas Through the support of generations of K-State family members, the K-State Alumni Association has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1874. I would like to thank the Association staff, board of directors and all of our alumni and friends for their continued support. Without you, none of this would be possible. We look forward to the next 150 years at K-State. ROGER MCCLELLAN ’88 Wichita, Kan. Go ’Cats! AUBREY ABBOTT PATTERSON ’98 Hutchinson, Kan. COURTNEY NOVAK RILEY ’91 Hiawatha, Kan.
