Bev Facey Community High School Daily Bulletin Wednesday, September 14, 2016 GENERAL: Student Voice: We are currently looking for students who would like to have their voices heard in matters pertaining to the school. If you’re interested in having your voice heard, please come to our first meeting on Friday, September 16th at the start of lunch in the former language lab (beside the library). Facey Music: Special Guest Rock Musicians Our Creative Music rock band program is hosting two band members from the Sonic Facey Spectrum: Facey Spectrum is Bev Facey’s own Gay Straight Alliance, a student led club supporting all individuals. Please join us for our first meeting, PIZZA PARTY, of the 2016 school year, Wednesday, September 21, in room 276. Returning members, please bring a friend. (September 21) Sustainability Team: Want to save the world but don’t have a cape? Join the green movement this Wednesday at 11:45 in room 160. Astronomy Club: There will be a brief introductory meeting Thursday (September 15th) at lunch in Room 241 for anyone interested in knowing more about the Universe. See Mr. Kowalchuk if you are unable to attend. STUDENT SERVICES: POST SECONDARY PRESENTATIONS: Attendance will be taken at each presentation. See Ms. Buckley for more information. Please let your subject teachers know if you will be missing class and at the presentation. Concordia University will be here Tuesday Sept 20th in block 2 in the old language lab beside the library. Concordia offers degree programs in a smaller setting with lower academic entrance requirements. Attendance will be taken at the presentation. Augustana U of A’s smaller campus in Camrose will be here block 1 will be here on Thursday Sept 29th in the old language lab next to the library. Augustana has lower entrance requirements and is still the U of A. They have 5 different degrees and 40 different majors. UBC will be here block 1 on Tuesday Oct 4th in the old language lab next to the library. UBC offers many degree programs with campuses in Vancouver and Kelowna. U of A will be here Wed October 12th in the library in block 4. There will be a faculty fair with representatives on hand from each faculty to answer specific program questions. MacEwan University will be here Tuesday October 18th in block 2 in the library. MacEwan has a variety of bachelor degrees and diploma programs in the heart of Edmonton. YOUR FUTURE: It’s a Matter of Choice is a oneevening opportunity for students from grades 912, their parents/guardians, and the general public to gather information and ask questions from over 40 post secondary institutions and career areas. This year’s date is Tuesday, November 1st from 68 p.m. at The Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Centre in Sherwood Park. Ask Nait: Interested in attending Nait in the fall. A representative from Nait will be here Oct 5 from 9:30 11 am to meet one on one with students. Sign up in Student Services to book a time slot. Encounters Canada: Are you interested in spending a week in Ottawa learning about areas that interest you with students from across Canada? Is your passion area Arts and Culture?
