Part I - Choose the Better Buy
For this project you will collect data about five products in your local grocery store. If
you are unable to go to the store, use the ads which come in the newspaper or mail. Ads
used must be attached to this worksheet.
1. Choose a product which has two sizes.
2. Record the price and unit rate of each size.
3. Compare the unit rate for each product and tell which is the best buy.
4. Then calculate how much you would save per year by buying the cheaper item if
it was purchased each week.

Part III – Presentation:
1. Choose 1 grocery item and present it showing the unit price for each. Which is the
better deal? How much would you save if you bought this product weekly for a
year?
2. Choose how you will present your finding.
a. You may use a poster to show your product (be sure to have a picture). You
MUST show all work in calculating unit cost and savings.
b. You may use PowerPoint to show your findings.
3. Present your finding to the class. Your presentation should be no more than 2
minutes.
