Bowl in a nine-pin no-tap tournament. The best of two

Fitness & Sports
Madness bracket contest held
March 14
Come to the Fitness Center on the METC for
their Madness Brackett contest. Brackets must
be submitted before the start of the first game.
Prizes total $200 for first-, second- and third-place finishers.
One bracket per customer. In the event of a tie, a free

Basketball brings 3-on-3 games
March 18 • 9:30 a.m.
The Jimmy Brought Fitness Center hosts a 3-on-3
basketball tournament. Teams consist of three players
and an alternate. First games begin at 9:30 a.m. This free
event is open to all DOD ID cardholders 18 years and
older. Teams with only one or two players can still come
out; the event coordinator can assemble teams on the day
of the event. Register no later than March 10. For more

Lifters face a challenge
March 18 • During normal operating hours
Men and women lift 1,000 pounds and 500 pounds
respectively in a bench press, dead lift and squat. This free
challenge is open to all DOD ID cardholders 16 years and
older. Preregister at the METC Fitness Center. For more

Golfers take on warrior scramble
March 3 • 12:30 p.m.
Golfers are invited to play in this four-person scramble.
Cost is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers. Fees
include green fee, golf cart, prize money and social.
PGA junior league begins
March 15 • 5 p.m.
Get ready for the 2017 PGA Junior League Golf season.
PGA Jr. Golf provides youth 6 to 13 years with a structured
league environment to compete and have fun. Participants
receive team jerseys, golf balls, PGA JLG bag tags, season
competitions plus coaching, practice and more. This
includes a fun team scramble format for players of every
skill level. The league fee is $75 per youth.

Disney® Salute 2017 is here
Disney is providing the Military Salute Tickets to “Eligible
Service Members”, which includes special admission
tickets for active-duty military and retirees through
December. The number of tickets that can be purchased
is six per military member or retiree ID card. The military
member/retiree must accompany their party at the gate to
activate the tickets. New this year to the Disney World®
Salute tickets is a Five (5) Day ticket. Prices for the Four (4)
Day ticket range from $207- $244. The Five (5) Day ticket
prices range from $222-$259. Each price is per person.
ITT also carries Disneyland® Three Day Park Hopper
admission tickets for $155 and they have added a Four
Day Hopper for $180. The Disneyland® blackout dates are
April 9-23. There are no blackout dates for Disney World®.

The Camp Bullis Rod-N-Gun Recreation Center is providing
Concealed Handgun License (CHL) classes. Successful
completion of this class required to apply for a Texas CHL.

Arms. Cost is $65 and students must be 21 years old
unless they are active-duty military and then they must
be 18 or older (DOD ID cardholders only). They must also

at Canyon Lake for a camp out. Take
part in team building activities,
games, swimming and more.
March 13-17 • 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This camp is for youth 11-15 years and cost $130 for the
full week, which includes breakfast, lunch, snack and field
trip. Also, a daily rate of $30 is available for those who
only need one or two days of care. This price includes
everything except field trips. Registration ends March 7.
Registration and the camp are held at the Watkins Terrace
Youth Center, building 1630.
USO teen night held
March 17 • 6-11 p.m.
Enjoy a great partnership with the downtown USO. This
event is geared towards youth 14-18 years. Partake in fun
and exciting activities from computer games and movies
to cooking class and much more. Check with the staff for
permission slips and registration forms.
Midnight brings madness
March 18 • 7 p.m. to Midnight
Basketball games for youth 11-13 years run 7-9 p.m. and
games for youth 14-18 years run 9 p.m. to midnight. The
evening includes snacks, music and basketball.
Registration open for care
Registration runs through March 8 for the School Age Care
Spring Break Camp. Camp is held March 13-17 from 6 a.m.
to 6 p.m. for youth 5-12 years. Fees are based on total
family income. Care must be requested in advance on

Sellers sell while shoppers shop
March 4 • 8 a.m. to noon
The Skylark Community Center hosts a flea market at
the Warhawk Fitness Center, building 2418, parking lot.
Sellers can set up wares for buyers looking for a bargain.
Space to set up is $10 and reservations are required.
Tables are available to rent for $5 each. Payment for
reservations must be made in cash and in person at the
Community Center.
Fitness & Sports
Squat competition held
March 6 • 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participants load 75 percent of their body weight onto
a squat bar and max out as many reps as possible.
Bottoms must touch the bench set up underneath.
This takes place at the Kelly Fitness Center.

Chef cooks up special dinner
The Gateway Club’s chef creates a special experience
in the Mesquite dining room, 5-8 p.m., with satisfying
menus for all. Cost is $16.95 for members and $18,95
for nonmembers. On March 3, the menu features a New
York strip steak with fried shrimp, duchesse potatoes,
mixed vegetables, salad and dessert. The March 10
menu features a rib-eye steak with sautéed mushrooms,
seasoned steak fries, roasted corn on the cob, salad and
dessert. The March 17 menu includes rosemary crusted
prime rib, twice baked potato, broccoli with hollandaise
sauce, salad and dessert.

in the food court with corn beef cabbage, Sheppard’s
pie, grilled stuffed pork chops with green pepper and

Sherwood Forest Faire
Weekends March 4 to April 23

crafts at the Sherwood Forest Faire! The Faire is
open weekends, plus Friday of spring break. Discount

Memorial Day brings getaway
May 25-29
This all-inclusive package travels from San Antonio to
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for four nights, five days.
Price includes round-trip airfare, airport transfers and all
inclusive hotel accommodations. Rates start at $1,100 per
person. A $200 per person deposit and a $10 service fee
are due at booking. Final payment is due April 10.

Swimmers train to save
March 11-14
Everyone 15 years and older are invited to sign up for this
Red Cross certified lifeguard class. When successfully
completed, students are certified in American Red Cross
lifeguard, first aid, CPR and AED. The class is a total of 32
hours and students must pass a prerequisite swim test.

to a new sport. Includes traditional and nontraditional

be completed and on file prior to registration.
Multimedia spring camp offered
March 13-17
Register youth, 9-18 years, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to
5:30 p.m. at the Youth Center by March 7. Participants
explore various forms of media including Digital Graphic
Design, Music Making, Photography and Videography.

2017 Kinder Casino Trips

Travel to the Grand Casino Coushatta in Kinder, La.
with ITT. The trip includes round trip motor coach

the next day. Cost is $60 for double occupancy or $120 for
single occupancy. Payment is required at the time of sign

Half-price fishing boats available
March & April
The fish are biting at Canyon Lake. To help get around, rent
a fishing boat for half price. Bring a favorite fishing pole or
purchase equipment from the park during business hours.
Bait is available in the country store. Please note guests
are required to have a boater safety course to operate
any boats from the marina. Take the course and receive the
boater safety card at JBSA Recreation Park @ Canyon Lake
or at any JBSA Outdoor Recreation location. Please allow
approximately two hours to review a video and test.

Randolph Spring Dual is here
March 25 and 26 7-9 a.m. Tee Times
The Spring Randolph Dual is a two-person event; day one
is a scramble and day two is a shamble. This event is
pre-flighted based upon GHIN® handicaps. A BBQ lunch
is provided after the first round on Saturday prepared
by Carl Null and Son. A drawing is conducted Saturday
during play where golfers have a chance to win great golf
merchandise. Participants who place in this tournament
are given a gift certificate that can be used for pro shop
merchandise. If the pro shop does not have what is
needed, staff can order it. The price is $90 for members
and $125 for nonmembers. The price includes green fees,
cart fees, lunch on Saturday, a prize drawing, goody bag
and gift certificates to the teams that place.

Adventure Night. This event is held at the CDP Annex for
youth 2 years and younger and at Youth Programs for youth
3 years and older. These are free to GPAB waiver holders

Youth hangout at teen center
March 17
Join in a St. Patrick’s Day social to include pizza and
