The Ski Report Here is what we are learning this week: Language Arts I can read short /e/ words with consonant blends and suffixes. I can read Sight Words. I can spell short /e/ words. I can tell who the characters are in a story. I can tell what the setting is in a story. I can retell a story using pictures. I can tell what happens in the beginning, middle, and end of a story. I can find facts in a non-fiction text. I can tell if a text is fiction or non-fiction. I can write a sentence with a capital at the beginning. I can write a sentence with a period at the end. I can listen to others. I can have a conversation with someone. I can ask and answer questions. Math I can solve addition equations and word problems by counting on. I can use the turn-around rule to solve addition equations and word problems. I can identify pairs that make ten. I can compare numbers. I can decompose numbers within 10. I can collect and analyze data. I can use tally marks correctly and tell what each tally mark stands for. Science I can tell what living things need in order to survive. I can make observations and tell others about them. Social Studies I am a good citizen. I can follow rules and tell why they are important. I can be Respectful, Responsible, Ready. Next Friday, October 21, we will spend the afternoon exploring and investigating Math and Science concepts by using pumpkins! We will count, measure, weigh, hypothesize about, and yes, carve those pumpkins! The pumpkins will then go on display in front of the building and be there for the Harvest Party. Please take your pumpkin home when you leave the Harvest Party. We will leave them until Monday. Any pumpkins that are still in front of the building after school on Monday will be thrown away. You can find videos with pictures of Zoo projects from previous years on our classroom web page. Classes are listed by year and they are on the video tab for each class. Students are enjoying learning with the web site Switch Zoo. Zoo Tycoon would be a fun app to play We always need snacks to fill up our cupboard.
