Create A Map: Geography Summative Assessment Performance Expectations-‐ Create a map 1) to ESCAPE the zombies OR 2) of your perfect paradise Include all of the expectations listed below. Your summative will be evaluated using the Humanities Criterion A: Knowing and Understanding Rubric. The final copy of your project will be due at the END of class on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH. You will be presenting your project on Friday, September 11th. _____Give your place a name (Title) and write it on your map. _____Include a total of at least three physical and/or cultural features on your map and give each a name. _____Include a capital city, designated by a star. Name your capital. _____Include a compass rose on your map. Use a ruler to make the lines straight and neat. Show Cardinal and Intermediate directions. _____Include a map scale. ( 1 in = ______ mi.) _____Make a map key that shows the symbols you used for your physical and/or cultural features, and your capital city _____Include some color on your map, _____ Make sure your map is neat and easy to read. ____ Absolute Location: Latitude and Longitude Coordinates for your Capital City _____Scale information: Using your scale, calculate the distance from your capital city to all of your 3 physical and/or cultural features. _____ Relative Location of your map, including the accurate cardinal directions and miles from the closest continent.
