PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY BEFORE ORDERING YOUR MILESTONE KITCHEN
Milestone Kitchens are manufactured from solid timber. You are buying a natural timber product so guarantees are difficult to define because the behaviour of the wood cannot be predicted with
confidence. Wood shrinks, warps, splits and cracks. It might do so immediately or over a period of time or possibly not at all. Chipboard, which is more commonly used in the manufacture of kitchens, is
made in a factory and is predictable but we prefer the warm character of wood, a natural material which grows in a forest. It comes with built in knots, resin, grain and variable moisture content. Cracks,
imperfections and colour variations will form part of your Milestone Kitchen’s unique character and should not be seen as defects. We do not use ANY chipboard in any part of our kitchens.
A Milestone Kitchen is not meant to be perfectly finished, super smooth or even 100% square.
BUT, a Milestone Kitchen is sufficiently straight and square to fit into normal building tolerances. It is strong, well designed and constructed, solid, highly sought after and made by South Africans
from (nearly all) South African products. Only some of the hardware and tools have been made elsewhere.
If you order a Milestone Kitchen and it falls outside these quality guidelines we will give you a full refund if you return your order to us.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The timber in our units has stabilised to the humidity of the Kwa Zulu Natal Midlands. Those of you who live in areas of lower humidity like the Karoo, Namibia or Botswana and other inland areas
might find that the pine tops will crack as the timber adjusts to the less humid conditions of your location. In this case we recommend that you order your units without tops and finish them off with
stone or hardwood tops from your area. Or you can order your units with our pine tops and accept that you might have to replace them if the cracking is unsightly. The Pine top option is not a large
cost of the units.
Similarly, for those of you who live in areas of high humidity such as the north coast of Kwa Zulu Natal or Mozambique, you might find that your units develop yellow stains from the resin in the
timber seeping out through the paint. A light sanding and additional coats of provided touch-up paint will eventually seal the timber surface and stop the stain.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING GENERAL INFORMATION RELATING TO THE PRICE LIST
• Prices do not include VAT.
• VAT is not added to international orders.
• Prices do not include the cost of delivery.
• Prices do not include any appliances except the Butler Sinks.
• The tops are supplied unsealed.
•Only the front of the drawers are painted. We can quote you for painting the insides, back and bottom if this is required.
• The units are not painted at the back but we can quote you for this.
• The units are not painted underneath but we can quote you for this.
• We do not cut holes for the sinks unless we have the sink in the factory: see our FAQs about this.
• In order to lessen our environmental impact we do not like to wrap our units in heavy plastic, but we do use blankets during delivery. If you are organising your own delivery we can give you a
quotation to wrap your units in bubble wrap to protect them during transportation.
• The Milestone colours are interchangeable between the units.
• You may choose your own colour from Plascon or Dulux colour charts. This incurs a 10% surcharge.
• You may choose your own dimensions. This incurs a 10% surcharge.
• We can quote you for a custom made unit once we have agreed on sizes and design.
• You may choose to have legs, plinths or castors on any range. We will quote you accordingly.
• Standard handles can be exchanged for antique or silver cup handles. This will incur extra charge except on the Swedish Style range.
• The 5% deduction on tops does not apply to the 7 Piece Starter Set Special.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING MEASUREMENTS
Milestone Units are not designed to fit perfectly together in one continuous line. Our units are designed to be free standing. This gives you flexibility in arranging and adapting your units to the size of
your kitchen space.
• All measurements are in mm.
• Units ordered without tops are finished at a height of 870mm unless another height is requested.
• Units can be ordered ‘flush end’ if you want them to butt up against a wall or against each other.
• Units can be ordered 'flush end' and without tops.
• Wall units and tall units such as Grocery Cupboards are measured across the width in the middle of the unit and exclude the cornice. Remember this in your calculations.
The different ranges have different cornice measurements.
o African Allure cornice overlaps by 114mm in total = 57mm on each side
o English Elegance cornice overlaps by 100mm in total = 50mm on each side
o French Flair cornice overlaps by 155mm in total = 77.5mm on each side
o Swedish Style cornice overlaps by 50mm in total = 25mm on each side
• Units can be order with a 'dead end'. The door at one end of the unit will be replaced by a fixed panel instead of a door. This might be done where two units join at a corner.
• Make sure that the units you order can fit though your kitchen doors. The Corner Units, the Deluxe Grocery Cupboard and the Islands cannot fit through an ordinary size door.
• You must confirm all measurements IN WRITING and ON YOUR QUOTE. We will not be held responsible for delivering the wrong size unit unless it is different from the size on your order.
• You have the option of drawing up your own quote on our excel document. Ask us to send you our quoting document. We will go through this carefully and make sure everything is correct.
