8.1 Overview
In order to be in a position to provide standard components and solutions, Fujitsu has entered into strategic alliances with a
number of major partners. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications form the core of the productive (mission-critical)
tasks in enterprises. In addition to using a whole range of proprietary applications, users are increasingly turning to standard
solutions. Innovative application concepts such as client/server architecture or web-based applications have sharply accelerated
this trend and are now proven and accepted. The internet, intranets and extranets have become indispensable for exchanging
information and conducting business on a global scale with customers, partners and within the enterprise.
The advent of the World Wide Web has opened up new business channels, enabling major improvements in customer support
and services. Web-based information systems and e-business applications are revolutionizing the way data is processed. These
applications can be built as custom solutions with help from powerful development environments or they can be deployed as
sector-specific standard software.
Both approaches are supported in BS2000/OSD by innovative partner products. For many years BS2000/OSD servers have
provided a powerful, future-proof platform for application software solutions. BS2000/OSD customers in industry, commerce,
banking and insurance as well as in government organizations can call upon some 400 commercial horizontal and vertical
solutions or a wide range of different business tasks such as accounting, production and sales developed by around 100
providers.

8.2.2 Additional KORDOBA Components
Securities System (K-GS)
The securities system, KORDOBA-Global Securities, supports the securities-related processes - real time, process oriented and
24 / 7 - from the sales front end through to order management and back-office. It can be employed platform-independently using
Solaris, BS2000/OSD or z/OS and connects to any core-banking system. K-GS has all the important interfaces to stock
exchange, trading and information systems s well as pervasive SOA services. The browser-based dialog user interface means
its operation is user friendly and intuitive.
Controlling Bank Processes (K-CONTROL)
K-CONTROL encompasses both the gathering of information from heterogeneous system landscapes as well as the
preparation and forwarding of this information to proprietary and partner products. Thanks to the modular product structure,
banks can put together their own individualized solution for their accounting, controlling, liquidity-risk management and reporting
needs. All functions of K-CONTROL are based on one common intelligent data interface RIO (Reporting and Information
Organizer). A data pool rounds off K-CONTROL. It contains consistent, justified and historically recorded data from RIO, as well
as the result data from the individual components of K-CONTROL.
Accounting
This component covers account and transaction valuation and balance sheet accounting in accordance with IAS / IFRS. A
balance sheet database contains values for the preliminary balance sheet as provided for in the German Commercial Code
(HGB) and the IAS / IFRS accounting values.
The system covers all the requirements of the balance sheet annex “accounting by residual term” for the German Commercial
Code and IAS / IFRS. The cash flows of all fixed rate transactions are allocated to the legally prescribed term ranges.

the basis of the cash flows of all fixed interest rate transactions. Using the optional integration of variable interest transactions,
Risk Controlling displays the effect of individual interest rate scenarios and offers possibilities for risk reduction. The controlling
functions provide bank directors, controllers, marketing departments and customer consultants with extensive information on
key aspects of bank controlling and bank marketing. Individual transactions right trough to the overall bank activities can be
analyzed and controlled. The system offers comprehensive support, with clearly structured results for account, customer,
customer group, product, branch and profit center as well as analysis possibilities can be created individually.
Reporting
Within the framework of preprocessing, the system creates the necessary account / transaction duplicates, considers any
compensations and lead deposits / requirements and calculates existing value corrections. Global limits or securities are
allocated to the respective demands and credit borrower units created according to KWG. The prepared transactions / accounts
are transferred within the standard to the product SAMBAplus (LogicaCMG).
Liquidity Risk Management
This is the first product on the market to fulfill the demands on calculating and managing short-term liquidity in combination with
strict back testing. It is based on the dissertation "Liquidity at Risk for controlling the liquidity-related finances of banks” written
by Dr. Stefan Zeranski. With the LaR solution banks fulfill important bank-regulatory risk-management requirements, and in

8.5 Micro Focus: Net Express BS2000/OSD Option
Micro Focus - based in Great Britain, USA, Germany, and Japan - is one of the leading providers of
solutions for development and handling of legacy applications. Micro Focus Enterprise Application
Modernization and Management software enables customers' business applications to respond
rapidly to market changes and embrace modern architectures with reduced cost and risk.
8.5.1 Net Express BS2000/OSD Option
The development environment of Net Express together with BS2000/OSD Option offers a complete set of functions that allow
for fast and efficient development of BS2000/OSD applications.
Net Express enhanced with BS2000/OSD Option is an integrated development environment for BS2000/OSD:
It allows for Batch and Dialog Applications using openUTM to be developed and tested on the PC before delivered for
production on BS2000/OSD. Moving development tasks to the PC results in significant improvement of productivity and
software quality.
Client-Server Applications using a BS2000/OSD Server can be developed and tested under BS2000/OSD Option. Net Express
offers a common development environment for the server and the client part of the application, builds the runtime environment
on the client in production and allows with its BS2000/OSD Option to test Client and Server together on the same platform.
Offering numerous interfaces Net Express enables reusing existing business logic of well proved BS2000 Applications in
modern software architectures. This allows to use existing functionality as the base for the generation of Web Services, EJBs
and CORBA objects or to integrate it with Internet Applications.
With Net Express support for COBOL/Java interoperability, mixed COBOL and Java applications can be easily created.
8.5.2 Highlights
 Integrated development environment
 Modern COBOL compiler compatible with COBOL2000 (BS2000/OSD)®
 Functions for simulating the BS2000 system environment
To allow development work on the PC, the Net Express BS2000/OSD Option emulates certain functions of the runtime
environment under BS2000/OSD. These include user and task switches, simulation of openUTM and the LEASY, SESAM and
UDS data management systems, and seamless integration with the Fujitsu openSEAS product suite.
8.5.3 openUTM Simulation
The openUTM simulation of the BS2000/OSD Option emulates the openUTM transaction monitor in the Net Express
development environment. Starting with the application definitions of the KDCDEF utility, the KDCS interface is supported to
allow communication between the application programs and openUTM. At application runtime the KDCF parameters can be
displayed using the TRACE function and interactively modified. This enables the application logic and the associated
transaction demarcations, the linkage of the individual application program units via openUTM and the control of mask output to
be visualized, thus permitting rapid troubleshooting. To support formatted dialogs, the FHS format handling system is emulated.
IFG format libraries can be transferred from host to PC.

8.5.4 Simulation of the openUTM Client
To support the development of client/server applications with
an openUTM application as server, the Net Express
BS2000/OSD Option includes a simulation of the openUTM
client. This enables the client too to be developed and tested
using Net Express.
During debugging, the client application can communicate
with a server application running under the openUTM
simulation of the BS2000/OSD Option. This enables the
interaction of the two parts of the application to be tested on
one platform. The two parts of the application can be
animated simultaneously, and the server can be monitored
with the openUTM TRACE. The appropriate Fujitsu software
is required for communication with a “real” openUTM
application.
Figure 1: The openUTM Trace
8.5.5 WebTransactions
The Fujitsu product WebTransactions enables the generation of object-oriented methods to allow access by Windows clients to
BS2000 applications which can be called from Net Express. For applications that use BizTransactions or WebTransactions, the
openUTM simulation in the BS2000/OSD Option permits the joint testing of client and server within the same development
environment. For this, WebTransactions is required on the PC in addition to Net Express.
8.5.6 Simulation of the LEASY, SESAM/SQL and UDS/SQL data management systems
At installation time, the Net Express BS2000/OSD Option permits simulation modules to be selected for the BS2000 LEASY,
SESAM and UDS data management systems. All DB simulations include various utilities which are included in the Net Express
integrated development environment during installation. These utilities enable structure information and test data resources from
databases to be transferred from the host. With the DB simulation modules, BS2000 applications that use these database
systems can be fully maintained and developed further or implemented from new, regardless of whether they are batch or
interactive applications.
The database simulation modules execute the database accesses on the PC, while at the interface to the COBOL program they
behave entirely analogously to the original database on the BS2000/OSD system. This applies in particular to the returned
parameters, e.g. the database status, which means that exception handling routines can also be tested in the simulation.

8.6 Data Warehouse with Partner Solutions and BS2000/OSD Data
One of the problem areas with modern data processing is that it generates and then has to manage masses of data in separate
and independent systems. These evolutionary “island solutions” satisfactorily fulfills the specific tasks for which they were
created, but in order to generate universally applicable information it is necessary to be able to access data in different formats,
in different systems or in protected domains. These two extremes – operational data and business-critical values – are brought
together in a data warehouse.
The data warehouse forms the basis for new solutions.
A data warehouse uses data from operational systems without adversely affecting its integrity or availability. The data is
selected, linked together, compressed, edited and organized into a form in which it can be analyzed, correlated or presented.
Data in the operational systems represents a series of snapshots of the business workflow and therefore contains no indicators
of change processes or growth trends. At the same time these indicators are the very information on which decisions are based.
Methods in the data warehouse ensure that, for example, the data is recorded on a time axis, stored and constantly updated,
and can therefore fulfill these requirements.
Characteristics of conventional data warehouse solutions include huge data volumes, large numbers of users distributed over
many locations, and resource utilization marked by workload peaks. The underlying data sources are organized to allow
optimized servicing of queries. A data warehouse architecture typically consists of one or more servers on which the data
warehouse data is stored. This data can be retrieved, evaluated and analyzed by users using a vast range of client software.
8.6.1 The Data Warehouse with BS2000/OSD Data
Many organizations running BS2000/OSD installations possess numerous operational data resources built up over many years
and stored in databases (SESAM/SQL, UDS/SQL, Oracle) or other data management systems (LEASY, SAM, ISAM files). It is
essential that the values of such data resources, prior operational processes and the valuable knowledge of the data security
and availability of the proven BS2000/ OSD system are preserved for new requirements and application environments.
Extracting the operational data and building the
actual data warehouse database is usually
done with the support of special tools. These
so-called ETL tools (ETL = extraction,
transformation, loading) are available from a
number of vendors – one very well-known
example is Powermart from Informatica.
The BS2000/OSD data is made available to an
ETL tool as a sequential file or alternatively the
tool accesses the operational data of the
BS2000/OSD system directly via an ODBC
connection (e.g. ODBC-Rocket from GFS
GmbH).
The data extraction runs directly under
BS2000/OSD, e.g. when using Meta suite from
Minerva.
A number of standard tools for formulating queries and generating reports are available on the Windows basis. The best-known
companies in this field are Business Objects, Cognos, and SAS.
The platform-independent DWH navigation tool QUBON from TONBELLER (see section 8.7) was developed on the basis of
Java and XML and presents the data in the browser as a client. In addition to Windows and UNIX platforms it therefore directly
supports BS2000/OSD as well.
These tools enable data originating from BS2000/OSD (and/or other systems) to be edited into information and can also be
used to generate effective analyses and reports. They can also provide Excel or Access add-ins so that users have no need to
leave their familiar working environment. The paradigm shift often associated with the introduction of a data warehouse, is
therefore optimally supported: away from the formerly prevalent standard reports to customized reports and convenient ad-hoc
reporting based on a common, consolidated database. In many cases Oracle is the ideal candidate for a consolidated database
because of its platform independence, and because most analytical tools can work with Oracle. The data coming from
BS2000/OSD can be analyzed using the data mining tools and methods available from Fujitsu, Cognos or Business Objects,
enabling new, unexpected connections to be identified with little effort.
In addition to the client/server architectures already mentioned, the data warehouse can also be integrated into the internet. For
this, too, the familiar tool providers supply a web component of their query tools. This can be used to create data warehouse
solutions based on entirely different operational data resources in BS2000/OSD and/or other systems, e.g. a SESAM database
(customer master data), an Oracle database (product master data) etc.. The data extracted from the operational data is
analyzed using a tool and supplied to the desktop via a web browser.

modern analytical procedures – locally and worldwide
8.7.1 Siron for BS2000/OSD
The full functionality of Siron is available on BS2000/OSD for reading simple files as well as Leasy, Adabas, Oracle,
Sesam/SQL and UDS/SQL databases. You receive your reports as listings, PDF or Excel files or by e-mail. A web interface
permits personalized posting of information on the internet. Siron is also ideally suited as an ETL tool for supplying data
warehouses and data marts. Siron’s strength in this context lies in its ability to access disparate data sources simultaneously, as
well as in its powerful yet simple 4GL, which is used for data cleansing. Finally, Siron allows the cleansed data to be loaded into
any relational DWHs.
Siron is the general-purpose tool for the entire enterprise
Reporting, i.e. bringing together company data from different sources for selection, evaluation and processing, is tremendously
important as the basis for decision-making, especially in a dynamic competitive environment and an increasingly globalized
world.
IT experts will value the productivity of the TONBELLER Business Intelligence Suite, even on complex development tasks. Siron
demonstrates particular strength when it comes to processing mass data, delivering performance comparable with the
processing speed of optimized Assembler programs.
Employees in other specialist departments will enjoy the ease of use when they have a sudden need for information. Interactive
user prompting supports the formulation and execution of queries as well as management of the results. Knowledge of the
specific system environment is not required when Siron is used.
Siron is a 4GL with the power of a 3GL
Siron processes any number of input data resources in one query. Efficient synchronization mechanisms permit the parallel
processing of relational and hierarchical databases and conventional files. Siron can generate or modify any number of files and
databases in the same query and simultaneously output an almost unlimited number of line-oriented and graphical reports. You
can launch Siron directly from the source code. But you can also convert Siron queries and install them as an object deck in a
load library and call them from there – an important feature for use in data center operations and in environments where
applications have to meet rigorous audit ability requirements.
Siron is easy to understand and just as easy to use
Reporting and OLAP analysis require data to be processed and displayed graphically. It is only when data that is normally
displayed in tables is presented in line graphs, bar charts etc. that connections become clear and it is easier to interpret the data
and the trends they reveal. Dashboards visualize large quantities of usually distributed data in compressed form (e.g. key
figures, key performance indicators). This concise information about status and management forms the basis for a quick
overview, succinct evaluation and well-founded decision-making.
Siron is the business intelligence add-on for other application systems
Using Siron, the tables and views of the SAP systems can be processed along with data resources from Kordoba, IFS, MBS,
EAS, and many other application systems. Most notably, Siron also supports a combination of several data sources in different
systems.

8.7.2 Components of the Siron Business Intelligence Suite
Siron®Kern
Siron®Kern is the base module of the Siron Business Intelligence Suite. It is available for all standard computer types,
databases and file systems. In one step, Siron®Kern processes any number of databases, even if stored on different
computers. The data may originate from conventional files, from hierarchical and relational databases, or from standard systems
like SAP R/3. No special computer skills are required to use Siron®Kern. The Siron language lets you draw up quickly and
easily your evaluations and analyses. Designs and layouts are graphically supported by the Siron® Report Designer.
Siron®DWH-Builder
Siron®DWH-Builder and Siron®TDI, bridge the gap between conventional (ad hoc) reporting and DWH-based OLAP analysis,
providing, for the first time ever, an integrated tool for both analytics and reporting. This way, you can meet virtually all of your
information needs with one tool. You can transform static lists into dynamic data marts with flexible formatting and analysis
options and convert individual analyses into lists and reports in any output format.
Siron®DWH-Builder handles the essential modeling of DWH structures (star or snowflake) and generates the relational data
pools. You generally do not need proprietary databases - Siron solutions use only your standard platforms (e.g., DB/2, Oracle,
SQL Server etc.) and can thus work smoothly with alternative tools or applications. The new Siron® command, "Supply DWH",
defines and fills SQL-based data marts in one single step. At the same time, you can create Qubon® or Siron®TDI applications
that allow you to flexibly view or analyze standard databases in a standard browser.
Siron®TDI – Turning Data into Information
Siron®TDI can be started from any standard browser without prior distribution or installation. The Siron®TDI server components
can be integrated on any web server, making them easy to implement in intranet and internet environments. The intuitive, userfriendly front-end provides real-time access both to the databases created by Siron®DWH-Builder and to existing data marts
and data warehouses. In contrast to previous static lists, users can view on their monitor answers to more detailed questions or
other types of questions. As a result, users can answer more than 90% of questions coming up in daily operations without any
programming input from the IT department Not only does this lighten the workload for the IT department, it also immediately
boosts user satisfaction with customized information and faster resolution. Siron®TDI is the perfect tool for providing companywide access to business information from different systems and data sources.
Siron®Web/Publisher
Siron®Web integrates the internet and intranet into your reporting system to provide worldwide information access from any
standard browser. Reports can be presented in HTML, PDF or Excel. Siron®Publisher, an add-on to Siron®Web, actively
distributes reports on the web. With the publishing functionality, you can create flexible mailing lists for every report to notify
users immediately (e.g., via e-mail or SMS) that new information is available.
