(Ex: Yellow—for unshaded area: orange-for shaded area) These should be
identical!!
2. Cut your rock strips vertically down the center of the page into two
equal halves.
3. Make sure your diagram of the ocean floor is facing upward. Cut three slits (one
along each of the three lines in bold that are marked “subduction zones/trenches”
and “rift zones”.)
4. Evenly align your identical rock strips and run them from the bottom of the
diagram into the center opening that is marked “rift zone”.
5. Now you and your partner will pull the two rock strips evenly apart towards the
end slits marked “subduction zone. “What do you notice is happening?”

Run your strips into the openings you have already created. Glue your end tabs
together.

7. After you have constructed your 3-D model label it correctly (labels
are provided..)
8. Finally answer the two discussion questions!!!!! (front and backside)
