FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Updated: 4 May 2017 ABOUT THE EVENT Q. What is this event? A global coalition of Huntington’s Disease patient advocates has come together under the HDdennomore initiative (pronounced ‘Hidden No More’ or ‘Oculta Nunca Más’ in Spanish and ‘Mai Più Nascosta’ in Italian). The event was inspired by the plight of families from South America most ravaged by HD. Families from Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina will travel to meet with Pope Francis and join an audience of thousands at the Vatican to drive awareness of HD and to lift the stigma around the disease. Q. Where is the event? The event is being held in Aula Paolo VI (also known as the Sala Nervi or Paul VI Audience Hall), in Vatican City, Rome. Q. When is the event? The event will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Q. What time does the event begin and end? The event will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017. The doors will open at 8:00 am. The event will begin around 9:30 am and end at 1 pm. Q. How do I register for the event? You can register for the event at http://hddennomore.com/register/. There is no cost for registration. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email. Q. Will there be assigned seating? No. There will be general seating for all attendees. Q. Does the event sell out, or have a capacity limit? Yes, the event space has a capacity limit and we expect a full audience. Please register as soon as possible to secure your ticket. Q. Do I need to bring personal identification? Yes, we encourage you to bring personal identification as it may be required for security and for the collection of translation headsets (please ensure it includes at minimum your name and photo). Proof of HD diagnosis is not required. Q. What can I bring with me to the event? You are not permitted to bring the following items: • • • • Sharp or dangerous items Video cameras (digital and phone cameras OK) Signs / posters Large suitcases / boxes We encourage you to bring as few items as possible. Is there a dress code for the event? While there is no dress code, we recommend that you wear appropriate clothing that covers the knees and shoulders. Q. Can I volunteer? There are no open volunteer opportunities available at this time. Should we required additional volunteers, an announcement will be made on the HDdennomore website and sent via the HDdennomore newsletter. Q. Can I take pictures during the event? Yes, you may take pictures during the event. Please, no flash photography or video filming. Q. Can I / we meet Pope Francis? Due to the size and nature of the event, Pope Francis will not have the opportunity to meet with all attendees individually. Q. Are there any other events planned? There are no other HDdennomore events scheduled at this time. Check our website for any future event announcements. TRAVEL + LOGISTICS Q. Where is the closest airport? Rome is served by two major, international airports: Leonardo da Vinci – Fiumicino Airport and Ciampino – G.B. Pastine International Airport. Q. How do I get from the airport to the city center? There are several forms of ground and public transportation available from both airports. Please review each airports’ website for further information: From Leonardo da Vinci Roma – Fiumicino Airport to city center: By train: From the railway station located in the airport, you can reach the city center by two different trains: Leonardo Express and Sabina-Fiumicino FR1/regional FL1. Leonardo Express, a non-stop service exclusively for airport passengers to/from Rome Termini railway station leaving every 15-30 minutes (depending on the time of day) with a journey time of 32 minutes. Train tickets can be purchased online, from the designated ticket machines at the entrance to the platforms or from other authorized selling points. Regional FL1 trains to/from other stations in Rome, including Rome Tiburtina, with departures every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays. By shuttle bus: There are numerous shuttle bus services to get you to and from the airport and Rome city center. Tickets can be purchased online or on board. The most common bus shuttles are: SIT Bus TERRAVISION SCHIAFFINI From Ciampino Airport to the city center: By shuttle bus: The shuttle bus from Ciampino Airport to Rome is the most convenient option as the railway station is far from the airport. Several buses run directly from the Ciampino airport into the Rome center and tickets can be purchased at the airport or on board. There is no need to reserve in advance. The most common bus shuttles are: SIT Bus Terravision Q. Will there be transportation to the events? You will be responsible for your own transportation to/from the event. Following are public transit options from Rome’s city center. By bus: From Termini station, take Bus 64 and Bus 40 and get off at the Vatican stop. By metro: Take line A (the red line) to the Ottaviano or Cipro stations. Q. Do I need a visa for travel to Italy? Visa processes are different for each country.
