American Revolution Theme Park Project The United States Board of Tourism has asked you to design a new Theme Park based on the American Revolution. This new theme park will be centered around the events before and during the American revolution. Your task is to research the people and events that shaped the American Revolution and to create a plan for a new theme park. Think big! Be sure to have fun but please focus on the significance of the events and individuals you choose to highlight. THEME PARK – PLAN REQUIREMENTS Part 1: Name, Logo and Slogan (5 points) Create an appropriate name for your theme park, design a park logo, and create a park slogan. These all need to somehow reference the American Revolution. Your park logo needs to be neatly colored. Part 2: Major Event Leading up the American Revolution (Ride / Activity) (15 points) Design a ride or activity for the theme park that centers on a major event that led to the American Revolution (1754 – 1774). Focus on an event that you believe was significant in influencing colonists to push for independence. If you are working with a partner, you will need to do 2 of these. Checklist: The ride that you’ve created shows that you understand the event. The ride and the event are related in some way. Explain your ride in one paragraph (3-5 sentences). Explain what happened in the event and why it was important in one paragraph (3-5 sentences) Include a neatly colored picture of your ride. You may choose the other event(s) to create rides for. Checklist: The rides that you’ve created show that you understand the events. The rides and the events are related in some way. You must do the individuals with a * next to them. The others are your choice. Your theme park will have actors walking about portraying important individuals from American history. You must dress each person, give them a thought bubble containing something that they might say and give them a prop or significant piece of clothing. If you are working with partners, please choose TWO Themed Food or Restaurant Souvenir Song Describe a food item or themed restaurant for your park’s visitors. If you choose a restaurant, make sure that it relates to the Revolutionary War Theme. Create or draw a Revolution souvenir that would be sold to tourists in your theme park gift shop. Write a song to play for visitors while they are on the grounds of your park. Explain in one paragraph (5 sentences) why it would be popular and why it fits in your park. Your song must have 2 verses and a chorus. American Revolution Theme Park Project Part 6: Park Map (20 points) Create a park map. Include the park entrance, location of your rides/activities, location of bathrooms, food places, gift shop, etc. Create a map like you would see at any amusement park. This must be done neatly and colored. All labels should be easy to read. SO….how do I do this project 1. Read the directions. 2. Read the directions again. 3. Complete part 1 by creating your park name and slogan. Fill out the appropriate form. 4. Read through parts 2 and 3. These are the for the rides that you will be creating. Choose the events that you will be portraying in ride form. If you are working with a partner, decide who will do which ride. 5. Research the events. You need to capture the main idea of each even in ride form. 6. Create the rides /attractions. Here are some ideas. Draw your pictures and write your paragraphs.
