How about venturing out to the Mongolian Steppe? ZSL’s summer field course in conservation biology The Zoological Society of London is inviting students to join Mongolian students on our 2015 summer field course. Getting Started The field course will be held in Mongolia’s unique rolling steppe grasslands which are home to Mongolian gazelle, Przewalski's horse, grey wolf, lynx and a stunning array of raptors. The course will be taught by conservation practitioners from the Zoological Society of London, with input from lecturers from the National University of Mongolia. The course provides training in ecological field techniques whilst providing a unique opportunity to learn about Mongolian biodiversity and conservation issues. The course will include training in small mammal trapping, camera trapping, distance sampling, and other field survey techniques. Students will experience the traditional Mongolian nomadic lifestyle - camping and attending lectures in ger tents, and eating traditional Mongolian food. Preliminary dates for the course are 7th—20th August. The cost of the course is £1200, and includes all tuition and travel costs within Mongolia, accommodation and food in the field, and a hostel stay in Ulaanbaatar.
