diseased by a daughter Dorothy Colbeth wife of Arthur Colbeth, Bass Harbor, Maine. She worked hard all her life, cleaning,
baiting trawls, knitting pockets & heads, just about anything to make sure the family was fed and clothed and always
received that special dream present at Christmas. Never once did she complain. Matter of fact, she loved the responsibility. I
know, because I was her son.

by grandparents, Nellie and Ray Tinker.
ii. Arlene Mary Davis was born on 18 May 1928 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Year of

County, Maine, USA. SOUTHWEST HARBOR Arlene Mary (Davis) Watson, 74, died Nov. 25, 2002, in
Southwest Harbor. She was born May 18, 1928, on Swans Island, the daughter of Ella (Tinker) Davis and
Elmer Davis. She enjoyed being around her family and friends and the family gatherings that were held
yearly. Arlene is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Wilfred and Debra Watson of Waterville,
Bruce and Thelma Watson of Penacook, N.H., and Jeff and Carolyn Watson of Hookset, N.H.; three
daughters, Sherry Belanger and husband, Paul and Dawn and her husband, Steve Dubuc, all of Nashua,
N.H. and Belinda and her husband, Rusty Reed of Southwest Harbor; seven sisters, Freida Smith,
Ramona Turner, Janet Ripley, Margaret Parkhurst, Juanita Twigg, Joan Sholty and Maureen Meyer; two
brothers, Raymond and Robert Davis; a very special aunt, Zelma Higgins, 27 grandchildren, 16 greatgrandchild-ren and a special friend, Sherry Colbeth. Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Andrew
Wilfred Watson, in 2001; a daughter, Catherine Tucker, Aug. 9, 1993; and a sister, Dorothy Colbeth. At

vi. Raymond Tinker Davis was born on 10 Feb 1937 in Frenchboro, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He
died on 16 Feb 2012 at the age of 75 in Tremont, Hancock County, Maine, USA. HANCOCK Raymond T. Davis Sr. “Papa” - Raymond,age 75, died peacefully Feb.16, 2012, at his home in
Hancock with his love of four years Marcia by his side. Raymond was born Feb. 10, 1937,on Swan’s
Island. He was the son of Elmer and Ella Davis.
Fifty years of his life was spent with his wife, Nancy raising their six children and enjoying all their
grandchildren together. He owned Ray Davis and Son Painting with his son for many years. He loved
spending time with his family having cookouts, which usually included numerous hours of playing
horseshoes. He was known as “The Champ of Seven Cities!” and to the ones he was closest with he was
known as “The King!” He loved his family so much and always entertained them with his stories and
sense of humor. Raymond enjoyed planting flowers around his home, playing his guitar and working in
his woodshop making gifts for his loved ones. Raymond also loved to sit and watch wrestling with his
son whenever possible. A big tradition in his life was attending the Cruise-In Car show at Jordan’s Snack
Bar for the past 20 years. He loved listening to the bands and dancing for he was a huge country music
fan. In recent years Raymond enjoyed going to the VFW dances on Saturday nights with his girlfriend.
He also discovered his love for Karaoke, singing all the country classics with his daughters.
Raymond is predeceased by his mother and father; his sisters, Dorothy, Arlene, Janet, Juanita; and his sonin-law, William Munson. He is survived by his brother, Robert; sisters, Maureen, Joan, Margaret,
Ramona and Freida; his children, Lorraine Munson of Tombstone, Ariz., Linda Davis of Bangor,
Raymond Davis Jr. and his wife, Yvonne, of Trenton, Ann Tardiff and her husband, Joseph, of Levant,
Mary Stubbs and her husband, Eddie, of Jonesboro, and Christy Beal and her husband, Richard, of
Columbia; his grandchildren, Charity,Tony, Jason, Eric, Apryl, Farran, Jasmine, Mariah, Thomas, Emma;
and a granddaughter on the way; great-grandchildren, Carter, Olivia, Miles, Alex and Kennedy. He also
had many special nieces and nephews in his life.
Raymond was fortunate to have his family grow even more in recent years through his relationship with
Marcia. Phoebe and Jim became like a sister and brother to him. He cared for Robin, Cindy and Tom like
they were his own children. Amanda, Tina and their little ones were just like grandchildren to him as well
as Ashley, his little buddy. Thank you all for loving him just as we all did. He will truly be missed by so
many.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Donations in Raymond’s name should be given to

(DAVIS) TWIGG SOUTHWEST HARBOR Juantia Jean Twigg, 63, passed away Saturday, Oct. 28,
2006, at an Ellsworth health care facility, due to a battle with cancer. She was born July 24, 1943, on
Swans Island, a daughter of the late Elmer S. Davis and Ella N. (Tinker) Davis. She was a loving and
caring lady who loved her family and friends so very much. She cared for others more than herself and
would often carry other's burdens. She was well known by many for her compassion and kindness.
Juanita and her husband owned and operated Tom Cat Variety, Southwest Harbor for 22 years. She will
be missed very much by all her family and friends and her two cats, Mimi and Susu. She is survived by
her husband, Eric Twigg of Southwest Harbor; two sons, Shawn Twigg of Portland and Daryl Twigg and
his wife, Terrilyn, of Bucksport; stepdaughter, Sonia Perry of England; brothers, Robert Davis and his
wife, Danielle, of Southwest Harbor and Raymond Davis and his wife, Nancy, of Lamoine; sisters, Freida
Smith and her husband, Wendall, of Lincolnville, Ramona Turner and her partner, Bob, of Southwest

He was well known here and about the surrounding islands and was certainly the ambassador of this
island community. He was a lobster fisherman by trade.
Survivors include one son, Bennie Davis, Jr. of Sudbury, Mass.; two grandchildren; two brothers,
Granville of Bass Harbor and Elmer of Southwest Harbor; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Thurston of Southwest
Harbor and Mrs. Florence Atwood of Woburn, Mass.; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert with the
Rev. Neal Bousfield of the Maine Seacoast Mission officiating. Spring burial will be in the Mount

He had been plant foreman at F. J. O'Hara's for the past 35 years. Born on July 26, 1905 at Swan's
Island, he was the son of Raymond and Nettie McKay Tinker. Besides his widow of Owls Head, Mr.
Tinker is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Julian (Charlene) Oliver of Owls Head; a grandson, Richard
Oliver; two brothers, Harvey and Henry Tinker, both of Owls Head; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Davis of
Southwest Harbor and Mrs. Zulma Higgins of Swan's Island; and several nieces and nephews. Mr.
Tinker was a member of the Rockland Lodge of Elks. The funeral was Wednesday from the Burpee
Funeral Home, Rockland, with interment at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Swan's Island. Colon was buried in
Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
iii. Zulma E. Tinker was born on 27 Jan 1907 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. She died on
13 Feb 2003 at the age of 96 in Camden, Knox County, Maine, USA. A graveside committal service will
be held at 12:30 p.m. on May 16, 2003 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Swans Island.
LINCOLNVILLE - Zulma E. Higgins, 96, died Thursday, February 13, 2003 at Windward Gardens in
Camden.
Born at Swans Island, January 27, 1907, she was the daughter of Raymond A. and Nettie McKay Tinker.
She was educated in local schools.
February 6, 1932, she married Maynard Higgins at Frenchboro. Mr. Higgins died in 1969.
In earlier years, she worked in the Swans Island fish processing industry. More recently she worked as a
personal care provider in Southwest Harbor.
During the depression, she cut hair, bartering her services for preserves. Mrs. Higgins was known on the
island as woman with a “Big Heart”. She enjoyed helping others and cared for her nieces and nephews
when they were little. She enjoyed making donuts and was know as the “Donut Lady” on the island. She
also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by one brother, Henry Tinker of Rockland as well as several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2003 at Burpee, Carpenter &
Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A spring graveside committal will be held at
the Rose Hill Cemetery, Swans Island.
She was buried on 16 May 2003 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic. No children.

Portland; two sisters, Mrs. Elle Davis of Bar Harbor and Mrs. Zulma Higgins of Swan's Island; three
brothers, Henry and Harvey of owls Head and Colon of Rockland; eight grandchildren; four step-sons,
and three step-daughters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home, Thomaston, with the Rev.

ROCKLAND - Henry D. Tinker, 88, died Friday, January 2, 2004 at the home of his very special friends,
Roberta and Clifford Tibbetts in North Waldoboro where he was celebrating the holidays.
Born July 1, 1915 on Swans Island, he was the son of Raymond and Nettie McKay Tinker. He attended
Rockland High School through the middle 1930s. In his youth, Henry worked on the first State road on
Swans Island.
His many accomplishments through life were far-reaching. He left Swans Island to make his way in the
big city of New York where he gained employment on 'millionaire's' three and four masted yachts as the
special 'top sail' man.
Returning to Rockland, Henry became a well-known carpenter. He built many beautiful homes in the
Owls Head area and worked on homes and projects in Rockland.
In the mid 1950s, he was involved in the building and operation of a lobster float that made its way to the
'Thanksgiving Day Parade” in New York City. He helped assemble the float there and rode it through the
streets of New York.
Henry's fascination with music followed him throughout his life. He played the saxophone, violin and
his pride and joy, the four string banjo. Since a teenager, he played the banjo at many area dances and
celebrations. As a member of the 'Swingtimers Band”, he played his banjo at many nursing homes and
functions in Knox and Waldo counties.
He attended West Rockport Baptist Church many years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Davis Tinker in 1996, three brothers, Harvey, Colon, James; and
two sisters, Ella Davis and Zulma Higgins. Besides his dear friends, Roberta & Clifford Tibbetts, Henry
is survived by one son, Henry, Jr. and his wife Ann of Medford, Massachusetts; and a special nephew,
Bill Wilson and his wife Sandy of Woolwich as well as several other nieces and nephews.
An hour of visiting will be held at 10:00 in the morning, Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Burpee, Carpenter
& Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, with a funeral service following at 11:00
a.m. The Reverend Harold Carpenter will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant Point Cemetery,
Cushing, in the spring
