The world’s fifth-largest sugar group, Tereos processes
agricultural raw materials into sugar, alcohol and starch.
With strong regional roots, Tereos is a cooperative group
that unites 12,000 cooperative growers around a long-term
vision: adding value to agricultural production and offering
quality food products. Open to a changing world
and the opportunities this brings, Tereos is developing
new outlets for agricultural production and helping drive
improvements in growing practices, while optimizing its
industrial processes, convinced that the world of agriculture
will be able to meet the challenge of feeding people
effectively today and tomorrow.
The agricultural sector and the products created from it have seen
some major changes relating to market globalization, regulatory
changes, environmental challenges and new consumer trends.
Tereos is responding to this with a firm commitment to driving progress for
the sector as a whole, by developing its activities, innovating and building
its presence internationally.

“Our governance enables us to factor in the interests
of our cooperative growers as both sugar beet
growers and shareholders, over the long term:
the Group’s success has been built around this
balanced model for governance.”
THIERRY LECOMTE, Chairman of the Supervisory Board
“Our ambition is to successfully combine
operational excellence with being able to plan ahead
in a changing world and meeting our customers’
expectations more effectively.”
ALEXIS DUVAL, Chief Executive Officer
PRODUCING
During the past 20 years, the agricultural
sector and the products created from it
have seen some major changes. From
the deregulation of agricultural policies to the
opening up of the markets, the globalization
of trade and consumer trends, as well as
growing environmental and social challenges.
As a result of these changes, we are operating
in a more open and volatile environment.
Tereos is preparing itself for these changes
through its international development,
as well as the diversification of its activities.
Our primary agricultural processing activities
require a very strong level of proximity.
Geographical proximity of course, but also an
ability to take on board the interests of an entire
sector at the highest level and on a lasting basis.
Everywhere we are present, this alignment
of agricultural and industrial interests and this
commitment to continuously drive the industry
as a whole forward represent one of Tereos’
fundamental missions and core strengths.
PROCESSING
Tereos has 42 industrial sites across
12 countries. The quality of its production
facilities, their flexibility and operational
performance are central to Tereos’
industrial model. On each of its markets,
Tereos, renowned for its expertise, has
built up leading positions in Europe and
internationally. By continuously optimizing
its processes, innovating and adapting its
industrial capabilities, Tereos is constantly
looking for new outlets in order to harness
the full potential of agricultural raw materials
and meet changes in demand. Alongside
its main areas of production - sugar and
sweeteners, starch, alcohol and ethanol the Group offers a very wide range
of coproducts.
MARKETING
Tereos distributes its sugar for general
consumers through its longstanding and
widely recognized local brands: Béghin
Say in France, Bourbon in Réunion,
Guarani in Brazil and TTD in the Czech
Republic. Tereos also offers its industrial
customers over 400 complementary product
listings that meet the needs of a wide range
of sectors, from the food industry (human
and animal) to pharmaceuticals, perfumery,
paper, chemicals and even energy. A group
on the move, Tereos aims to anticipate market
developments, as well as food, energy and
environment trends, in order to effectively
meet its customers’ expectations. Thanks to
its locations across four continents, Tereos
is also able to support its customers as
they develop internationally, offering them
consistent quality products and services.
