TreatmentandControl Treatmentofringwormdependsontheseverityoftheinfection.Aveterinarianmayprescribea medicatedshampoo,ointmentoradiptokillthefungus.Insomecases,oralmedicationsarenecessary tocureringworm.Inseverecases,itmaybenecessarytouseatopicalandoraltreatment,inadditionto clippingawaythefur.Oncetreatmentbegins,lesionsshouldbegintohealinaboutonetothreeweeks. Inorderpreventthespreadofinfectionviatheenvironmentorcontaminatedfomites,anEPAorHealth Canadaapproveddisinfectantwithafungicidalclaimwillbeeffectiveatinactivatingfungalspores.
