FOOTHILLCOLLEGE WINTER2017 PROF.KATHLEENARMSTRONG CHEM12BORGANICCHEMISTRYSYLLABUS Chemistry 12B is the second of a three quarter Organic Chemistry course for life and physical science majors. Topics covered this quarter include Spectroscopic elucidation of organic compounds and continued study of the reactivity of organic functional groups. This quarter we will cover alkynes, conjugated systems, and aromatics and benzene derivatives. We will also begin to study multi-step syntheses of target compounds and continue to emphasize mechanism in order to further establish the connection between structure and function. AgradeofCorbetterinCHEM12A(OrganicChemistrylectureandlab)orits equivalentisaprerequisite.
