The eightweek course on Tuesdays through Mar. 16 is held at the UC Riverside Graduate Center, Room B100, 75080 Frank Sinatra Drive, Palm Desert, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The cost for the entire series is $96, individual lectures are $15 and tickets at the door are $20. Parking is free. John Dean, former White House Counsel will lead the discussion about The Unintended Consequences of Nixon’s China Initiative and Watergate.” Dean will be talking about Nixon’s diplomatic foray into China within the context of the Nixon presidency—his diplomatic initiatives inadvertently led to his downfall with the Watergate scandal. Great Decisions is an educational program developed by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA). FPA is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring the American public to learn more about the world. Founded in 1918, FPA provides independent publications, programs and forums to increase public awareness of, and foster popular participation in, matters relating to those policy issues. COD’s Julie Bornstein, Adjunct Faculty, will lead the weekly lecture-discussion series. Participants have the opportunity to discuss their views on each weekly topic.
