The Florida Orchestra to perform free concert
at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – For its fourth and final hospital concert of the season, The Florida Orchestra will
feature musical stories in a free performance for young outpatients and their families at the Johns
Hopkins All Children’s Hospital complex in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m.
The casual concert will include the
Overture to William Tell by Rossini,
Copland’s Hoe-Down from Rodeo, and
big screen favorites Superman and
Beauty and the Beast, at the hospital’s
Education and Conference Center, 701
Fourth St. S in St. Petersburg. The guest
conductor is Ryan Haskins.

Kids get into the groove of last season’s TFO concert featuring
dance music from around the world.
The free concert is geared for
outpatients, who visit the hospital for
ongoing care but are not admitted to
the facility, and is not open to the
public. It also will be simulcast to
hospital rooms to reach all patients and
their families.
These unique concerts – this is TFO’s third at the hospital – inspire the orchestra to do something special
for the kids. Last season’s concert, which featured dance music from around the world, turned into one
big dance party. At TFO’s first concert at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in 2015, Music Director
Michael Francis told stories from a play pirate ship on the rooftop terrace.
This performance is part of The Florida Orchestra’s ongoing mission to bring the healing power of live
music to all people of Tampa Bay, not just those who can come to a concert hall. This is the orchestra’s
third season performing free hospital concerts, which have included Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa

General Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital-North in Lutz, St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg and UF
Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
Before the full orchestra concert, Florida Orchestra musicians plan to continue the tradition of playing
individually or in small groups for children who are currently inpatients at Johns Hopkins All Children’s
Hospital.
