SESSION 1: SYNOPSIS AND CHARACTERS
Activity 1: Synopsis
Read the synopsis of the play and answer the questions with your classmates.
Keep Calm!
These are two words you must remember if you want to be a good detective. Frank
wants to be a detective and his secret love, Geena, has the same ambition. When Frank
tries to tell Geena how he feels his best friend, Lucy, tries to stop him. She is jealous
because she wishes that she could be Frank´s girlfriend. Frank gets angry with Lucy and
says he never wants to see her again. Lucy tells Frank that one day she will get revenge.
What will happen, will detectives Frank and Geena stop her…? Keep Calm is a story of
love, revenge, team work and achieving your dreams.
*DETECTIVE : a person who investigates crimes
*JEALOUS : the way you feel when somebody has something that you want
*REVENGE : when you do something bad to somebody because they did something bad to you.

Activity 2: The Characters
There are three main characters in the play: Frank, Geena and Lucy.
Read the following three descriptions of the characters. Using the information you have
after reading the synopsis of the play, and try to match the descriptions to the characters.
She is Frank’s good friend but she is secretly in love with him. She is a
jealous person and can become very nasty when she doesn’t get what she
wants.
Who is it?
He is in love with a girl and wants to confess his feelings to her. They both
share the same dream job.
Who is it?
Her goal is to be a detective. However, before she can be a great detective
she must learn one last thing… how to stay calm.

What is revenge? As a class, try to write your own definition of revenge.
You can write some ideas here:
Imagine the following situation:
You are meeting your best friend, Sam, at the cinema to watch the new Jurassic World
movie. When you arrive, you and Sam buy some popcorn and cold drinks and chat about
how long you have been waiting for this movie and how excited you are about seeing the
special effects. Suddenly, Sam sees some other friends from his football club. They are
going to watch The Minions. Sam spends some time talking to them and then tells you
that he is sorry, but he would prefer to watch The Minions with his other friends. You can´t
believe your ears. How could Sam do this to you? He is your best friend and he knows
how much you want to see Jurassic World! You are furious with Sam, and you have to
watch the movie all alone.
Would you get revenge on Sam?
