Mission Statement for Thurgood Marshall Elementary: To foster a united, diverse community achieving
individualized excellence for all.
Goal 1: Equity and Community- Create a school community where all participants have a sense of belonging.
Goal 2: Rigorous Academics in every classroom, with a school-wide focus on reading, math alignment and
assessment, and differentiation to meet each child at their level. Goal 3: All students will have a meaningful and
multicultural arts experience.
Description & Plan to Achieve Goals for Thurgood Marshall Elementary: Staff will regularly review student
academic and disciplinary data and use this information to plan interventions. Every classroom will implement
the RULER program and Positive Discipline to ensure a safe school environment. We will make all decisions
impacting students with equity in mind, including parents and community members in our decision-making
teams such as our Building Leadership Team. Staff will collaborate in PLCs with a focus on Reading to plan,
review student assessments and provide interventions and enrichment. Together, staff will work to create and
align a K-7 mathematics program that aligns with Common Core State Standards and supports extended
learning at home. Teachers will regularly review student data and provide supports for students who are not
making expected growth. Our Arts Team will integrate art into every classroom and provide students with a rich
multicultural arts experience.
