St. Francis de Sales – St. Stephen School Parent Memo – November 17, 2016 “We have been called to heal wounds, to unite what has fallen apart, and to bring home those who have lost their way.” ~ St. Francis of Assisi Liturgical Choir News IMPORTANT REMINDER - If your child(ren) participates in Liturgical Choir, they are asked to sing at several weekend Masses throughout the school year. It is very important that these Masses are well attended by choir members. Their fellow choir members are depending on them. The first of these Masses is Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Church. Please have students dressed in school dress uniforms and please plan to arrive by 10:00 a.m. for warm up and rehearsal. Thank you! The Holiday Extravaganza Planning Committee would like to thank everyone who helped to make this year's Holiday Extravaganza a success! We thank our vendors, shoppers, and the parents who baked for our bake sale and made soup for our lunch. Thank You! Thanksgiving Baskets Our Lady of Peace Parish’s office of Social Ministry is once again preparing Thanksgiving food baskets for our neighbors in need. They have received information about 175 families needing assistance in our region and plan to provide over 800 people with a delicious Thanksgiving meal through this basket program. Mrs. Milligan has requested our help as has been our tradition. Each class is assigned certain items to bring in for the baskets to compliment the turkeys Social Ministry has purchased. Please help us to make this event a success and provide a nice holiday meal for folks who won’t have one otherwise. We do not need cranberries this year, as cases have been donated. Please focus on the items listed below. Thank you! Items are due by tomorrow. First, on Friday, November 18, 2016, they are sponsoring a Thanksgiving Pie Day. Several parents have volunteered to bake pies, and S.C. plans to use funds from their treasury to purchase the rest of the pies they need. Each student will be treated to a slice of pie after lunch on Friday courtesy of our Student Council officers and representatives! Happy Thanksgiving from your Student Council. On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, Student Council is sponsoring an Alzheimer’s disease Awareness Out-Of-Uniform Day. Students may dress out of uniform if they bring $1.00 to be donated to the WNY Alzheimer’s Caregiver Partnership and wear PURPLE! Dates to Remember Thurs. Last year we introduced this party as our Spring Fling! This year we want to throw a Mardi Gras style party, however we know that more people can come out and celebrate with us on the weekend, so let’s call it a Samedi Gras - Fat Saturday! Save the date: the Saturday before Lent begins, February 25, 2017 at Ventosa Vineyards. Watch the weekly memo for more information! Ski Club News Interested in Ski Club at Bristol Mountain? A group of Newark students and SF-SSS students will be going for the twilight pass (3:00-10:00) on most Saturdays between December 10th – March 11th. You will be responsible for transportation but carpooling can probably be arranged with other families. The cost is only $135 if you register online before 11/18 ($155 after that).
