Basic Conversation 1
Description: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of common greetings, goodbyes, basic questions and answers, and basic Spanish pronunciation. Content: Students should understand the following vocabulary and phrases from chapter one: hola, buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches, adiós, nos vemos, hasta luego, hasta la vista, hasta pronto, hasta mañana, chau, ¿Cómo estás? ¿Cómo está usted? ¿Qué tal? ¿Qué pasa? Muy bien, bien, regular, mal, muy mal, ¿De dónde eres? ¿De dónde es usted? Soy de, ¿Cómo te llamas? ¿Cómo se llama? Me llamo, ¿Qué hora es? Son las… ¿A qué hora? A las ¿Cómo se escribe… ? Se escribe… Skills: Students will be able to: 1. Greet and say goodbye to someone appropriately 2. Introduce themselves and others 3. Tell how they are doing and ask how someone else is doing 4. Ask and respond to questions about names and place of origin 5. Ask for and give the time of day 6. Address people appropriately based on age and status (tú or usted) 7. Correctly pronounce the letters of the alphabet and the vocabulary words Demonstration for Mastery: Write and present a short dialogue, using the vocabulary and phrases from Chapter One, that includes a greeting, at least three questions and answers, an introduction of a person and a goodbye. Dialogue presentation must earn a minimum score of 80% based on the speaking assessment rubric. Demonstration for Mastery with Honors: Write and present a short dialogue as detailed above and spontaneously answer five questions based on Chapter One content. Prerequisite Letters: None. Chapter 1 Grammar and Vocabulary
Description: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of vocabulary words, definite and indefinite articles, the pluralization of nouns, and the Spanish gender system as it applies to nouns. Content: Students should understand the following vocabulary from chapter one: el hombre, la mujer, el chico, la chica, el pasajero, la pasajera, el turista, la turista, el joven, la joven, el cuaderno, la cosa, el video, la escuela, la palabra, el problema, la mano, el mapa, la conversación, el país, la comunidad, el día Skills: Students will be able to: 1. Write the Spanish translation when given a vocabulary word in English 2. Write the English translation when given a vocabulary word in Spanish 3. Change a singular noun to its plural form and a plural noun to its singular form 4. Use definite and indefinite articles correctly 5. Identify nouns as masculine or feminine Demonstration for Mastery: Minimum score of 90% on the Chapter One Grammar and Vocabulary Exam. Basic Spanish Composition 1
Description: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of vocabulary words, prepositions, -­‐ar verbs, and the verb gustar.
