Planned giving means thinking now about how your assets will be allocated later when you pass on. Most people think of providing for their family and leaving funds for the causes they care about. All of you care about the future of women and children in our area and most of you have contributed to the Women’s Fund as one means of helping those women and children. The Women’s Fund hears and responds to many needs: buying diapers; dental intervention; summer breakfast programs; energy bills for women who need a boost; school clothes; tuition for single moms. We would be honored if you would consider entrusting a portion of your estate to continue this legacy of giving with the Women’s Fund. Here is language we suggest. I request that ______________________ (a specific asset or % of residual estate) be gifted to the Women’s Fund of Portage County, a fund maintained at the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, PO Box 968, Stevens Point, WI 54481. “Nearly two-thirds of all households in poverty in Wisconsin are headed by single women.” Institute for Women’s Policy Research, Briefing Paper, April 2011 Photograph by Splendid Photography by Serena Women’s Fund of Portage County 5 WOMEN’S FUND GIVING SETS RECORD For Children in Need Boys & Girls Club Summer Breakfast Program Community Partners with Special Needs SPASH Students For Emerging Needs 2014-5 $2,100 700 Every Fund-Central Wi Children’s Museum 2,000 Healthy Smiles- HHS 2,000 Safe Baby/Safe Child- HHS 3,000 Very Young Composers of Central WI Family Crisis Center Security Fence 750 2359 5,191 For Partners Projects with Women and Children YMCA- Outdoor Learning Pavilion at Y Camp Glacier Hollow 5,990 Saint Michael’s Foundation Ministry Kids Fit 3,000 Saint Michael’s Foundation Dental Center’s 0-3 Program 2,990 TOTAL $41,980 For Women in Need Energy Assistance (Single Moms) - Operation Bootstrap 5,000 Housing Assistance (Single Moms) - Operation Bootstrap 2,400 Skills Enhancement- CAP Services 2,000 Sexual Assault Victims- CAP Services 500 UWSP Scholarship for Student Moms 2,000 Hundreds of children receive dental care each year at Ministry Dental Center. We are now able to generate close to $20,000 for good works from the endowment alone. Giving to the endowment means that your gift keeps on giving because we only use the interest on it. The Women’s Fund of Portage County is dedicated to being a bridge that encourages and facilitates women reaching out to help local women and children. There was a time when people did not think of women as “philanthropists,” pillars of charity within communities. Today, women are emerging as a major force of giving. Helping women and children community is as important as ever. in our Local children participate in the Ministry Kids Fit program led by Kevin Ruenger, Ministry Medical Group, Health & Wellness Specialist.
