The museum tells a fantastic story of the immigrants who gave everything to start a new life in this country. This afternoon, we meet back at the motorcoach where our local guide will tour us through Manhattan Island driving through wellknown sights such as Central Park, Wall Street, Garment District, Ground Zero, Grand Central Station, Lincoln Center, and South Seaport. We end our day at Rockefeller Center, and take the elevators to the “Top of the Rock” for a beautiful view of the skyline of New York City at night. (CB) Day 4: Fri. Oct. 5: This Morning we drive north from Manhattan up the Hudson River Valley, continuing on to West Point, NY for a guided tour of the United States Military Academy at West Point. From the day of its founding on March 16, 1802, West Point has grown in its size and stature, but it remains committed to the task of producing commissioned leaders of character for America's Army. Following our tour, we drive to the Boston area where we stay for two nights. (CB) Day 5: Sat. Oct. 6: This morning we enjoy Boston. History comes alive today as a local guide escorts us along the Freedom Trail, which includes The Old North Church, Paul Revere Statue and other famous Boston Sites. This afternoon, a scenic drive brings us to Lexington to view the Green where the first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired. At nearby Concord, we visit the Old North Bridge, site of “the shot heard round the world.” We again overnight in the Boston area. We end the day at Faneuil Hall. (B, D) Day 6: Sun. Oct. 7 – Today we travel north into New Hampshire. You will especially enjoy our drive on the Kancamagus Scenic Byway. This drive offers one of the most beautiful routes through New Hampshire's White Mountains. The road meanders through vast forests, old logging roads, and Indian hunting paths. Visitors know it as one of the world's most spectacular fall-foliage trips, but a stunning spectrum of color underscores the region's natural beauty year round. A stop at the Flume State Park Visitors Center in the Franconia Notch will familiarize us further with this area of New Hampshire. Continuing on, we travel to Bath, NH to visit the Oldest General Store in US, “Bricks General Store.” After a visit to the store it is just a short walk to the “longest covered bridge in NH.” Later this afternoon we learn about one of Vermont’s industries, with a guided tour of the world’s largest working Granite Quarry. We overnight in Vermont. (B) Day 7: Mon. Oct. 8: We start our day with a stop at an authentic Maple Sugar Farm where you have a chance to taste and buy delicious Vermont Maple Syrup and candy. It’s then off to Vermont’s State Capitol; at 140 years old, it is still a beautifully maintained historic building. The Governor’s Office, a ceremonial room, welcomes visitors as does the rest of the capitol with guides to show us around. After an included lunch, we tour the world famous Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory; you will have the opportunity to taste, too! Next we are off to Lake George. Nestled in the Adirondacks, it is one the premier vacations spots in the state of New York. (CB, L) Day 8: Tues. Oct. 9: This morning we leave Lake George and continue our journey west though beautiful upstate New York to Niagara Falls, ON. Once we cross the border into Canada, (have your passports or passport cards ready), we’ll check into our hotel on the beautiful Ontario side of the falls. Our next stop: Niagara Falls for a boat ride on the “Maid of the Mist.” Feel the mist on your face; hear the roar of the falls, this boat ride is sure to increase your appreciation of the magnitude of “the falls.” After dark we’ll visit the “Illuminated Falls,” a unique and colorful view of the falls at night, providing the perfect photo opportunity. (B) Day 9: Wed. Oct. 10: This morning will bring us to the Table Rock House Visitors Center. Here you can view the falls from above, another great vantage point. Free time at this visitor’s center will give you the opportunity to browse for souvenirs, or take an optional “Behind the Falls Tour.” Next continue on to the Floral Clock where a great photo opportunity awaits us at this beautiful clock made entirely from thousands of flowers planted in a clock design, with Westminster Chimes ringing out. We then make our way to Niagaraon-the-Lake, often called the loveliest town in Ontario. Here we have time to have lunch, browse the many gift shops, wine and coffee shops in this quaint village. We then visit the St. Catherine’s Museum to learn about the Welland Ship Canal. Built in the 1830’s, the canal allows ships to bypass Niagara Falls as they make their way between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. We overnight in London, ON (B) Day 10 &11: Thur. Oct. 11 & 12: We begin our journey home as our adventure comes to a close. Tonight we overnight in Illinois. As we travel, we reflect on the excitement of New York City, the early American history in and around Boston & Philadelphia, the splendid scenery of the New England States, and the majestic Niagara Falls. We realize that part of the enjoyment of this trip has been sharing the experiences with old and new friends. The big cities, quaint villages, natural beauty, brilliant autumn colors and friendships will remain with us long after we arrive home.
