We were so disappointed to have to cancel our children’s Christmas Party. We had over 200 families
going to attend and it was going to be fabulous. Unfortunately all Council grounds were closed due to
the horrible rainy weather we had been having. Of
course since then the weather has been good! We
will definitely plan the same again next year and
keep our fingers crossed for warm sunny weather.
By now all the presents for children whose families
had RSVP’d have been delivered out to the Educators to be passed along to parents.

As 2014 draws to a close I firstly want to thank all those
families who donated food items to the CCA hamper
drive. The organization has delivered over 100 hampers
to needy families in our community, and they have been
received with smiles, thanks and a few tears. It is such a
wonderful feeling to bring a smile to someone’s face at
this time of the year when they weren’t expecting it.
Some of our Educators are working over the holiday season and for the first time we have children in care on
Christmas and Boxing Day. This just highlights the flexibility of our service and the willingness of our Educators to
help families needing care at any time they are required
to work.
We have had a busy year and are looking forward to the
new year. Lots of difficult situations have arisen during
2014 with all educators having to reduce their numbers
of children in care due to regulation changes and in 2015
we face the loss of all Government funding. These are
certainly huge challenges, but we are determined to
overcome them and continue to provide the quality service we do to all families in our community.
We wish you all the very best of wishes for the holiday
season. Enjoy time with those you cherish, be of good
cheer and stay safe.
See you all in 2015.

Educator training
“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.”
― Charles M. Schulz
During Term 4 our Educators had the opportunity
to attend various training workshops at the Office.
Who’s Who in the
Coordination Unit?
Julie is our Team Leader and
she is responsible for the day to
day smooth running of the FDC
programme. She does all the
Educators annual risk assessments, is involved in recruiting
new educators and keeps an
eye on the ESO’s
We had a ‘Maths is all around us’ workshop which
emphasised that maths isn’t just 1,2,3’s and times
tables. Each Educator left with a resource book full
of ideas to incorporate maths into their everyday
programme.
Pam ran a workshop on making your own toys using everyday items.
Both workshops were so popular that we had to
run 2 sessions of each.
We also ran some evening visits to other educators
homes. These were designed so that educators
can see how other people set up their environments, how they do their documentation and gave
them an opportunity to network and gather fresh
new ideas from their colleagues.
These visits were supper visits where everyone
bought a plate to share.
Office Closure Dates
The CCA Family Day Care office will be closed from
4.30pm Wednesday 24th December. We will reopen
on Monday 5th January at 8.30am.
Enrolment enquiries will be taken from Monday 5th
January 2015.
Fruit salad Christmas Tree
I made this Christmas Tree platter last year
and my children loved grazing on it throughout
the day.
Using green apples, cut about 6 of them into
wedges and arrange them on a foil covered
tray so that they form the outside shape of a
Christmas tree. Use 1 red apple cut into sticks
with the skin on to make the trunk of the tree.
Use grapes to fill the inside of the tree shape
and use raspberries and blue berries as the
baubles and decorations on the tree.
You can also dust with icing sugar for snow just
before serving.
Enjoy!

What’s been happening at Playsession?
We experimented with our new see through coloured shape blocks. It was great fun to look
through them and see how they changed the colour of everything. We could also watch ourselves
building in the mirror.
Our little cubby area was a lovely quiet place to
play, with soft cushions, books, some toys for
our littlest playsession children and the dolls
house. The children loved furnishing the house
and rearranging each different level of the
house.
Christmas craft was also available. A variety of
glittery, sparkly bits and pieces were available to
glue onto different shapes. We hope they make a
shiny addition to your Christmas Tree at home.
Water play was a big hit. The days were
so humid that playing in the cool water
was a welcome activity. Different sea
creatures appeared in the water every
day and the children had a great time discovering the creatures every day.
