Jesus is baptized and prepares for his Public Ministry. Compare and contrast the different
Gospel accounts of Jesus’ baptism. Matthew 3:13-17 | Mark 1:9-12 | Luke 3:21-22 | John 1:31-34.
Why was this moment so important?
Why do you think it is important for Jesus to be baptized when starting his public ministry?
How is this moment relevant to us and our lives?
Jesus is sensitive to the needs of others, especially the poor. Compare and contrast the
teachings of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:1-12 (all of ch. 5 & into ch. 6) and the
Sermon on the Plain in Luke 6:17-45.
What are the differences and similarities between the two Gospel stories?
Is caring for the needs of others, especially the poor, something that is of high priority in our society
today? Why or why not?

relationship with someone, you need to spend time with them and learn about them. Jesus
is no different.
