Express Scripts to Launch New Compound Management
Solution
Express Scripts is excited to announce the launch of a new solution to
address the rapidly changing landscape of compound prescriptions. The
solution allows Express Scripts to evaluate every ingredient in a
compound and will manage a comprehensive list of compound ingredients
to exclude on your behalf. This offering aims to cover medications that
are clinically acceptable and reasonably priced.
Under this offering, if any ingredient in the prescribed compound is on the
list of excluded ingredients, the compound will not be covered. Express
Scripts will monitor compound ingredient prices on your behalf, and if any
ingredients increase outside of market-acceptable ranges, those
ingredients will be excluded as soon as reasonably possible.
There is no cost to enroll and there are two launch dates based on your
needs:
September 15: Standard Implementation (default)
o
Preferable option for those who need to provide members
with a 60-day notification before launching a block for
compound medications.
July 15: Priority Enrollment
o
Preferable option for those who would like this compound
management solution implemented immediately and are
comfortable with implementing without notifying members.
How Do I Enroll?
Enrollment for this program is easy. If you wish to enroll and implement on
September 15, no action is necessary. For September 15 enrollment, your
impacted members will receive notification of this program around July 15.
If, however, you would like to implement this program earlier or would like
to opt-out entirely, you need to contact your account representative
before July 3 with the following:
To implement July 15:
o Contact your account representative before July 3, and
include the following statement in writing:
o This is my approval and electronic signature to
implement Express Scripts’ Compound
Management program on July 15 with no prenotification letters to my members.
To opt-out:
o Contact your account representative before July 3, and
include the following statement in writing:
o Please do not enroll my members in Express
Scripts’ Compound Management program at this
time.
If you do not contact your account representative prior to July 3, your
members will be automatically enrolled in this new program beginning
on September 15.
