What’s Happening At BMS
On Friday, January 25th, we gathered together again for yet
another one of our fun-filled science activities. Each team was
assigned to write down the directions for making a peanut butter
and jelly sandwich. The winners, Mrs. Brack’s Gaming Geckos,
were rewarded with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Sports Around Bluestem!!!
Wrestling- practice started on Jan. 28. The schedule is on the BMS homepage @
www.usd205.com. The coach is Mr. Madden
Mathletes- Many students went out for the “sport”. There was a race to see who could
be the first to complete the most problems and do them correctly. Only two students
can go out for each subject. The meet is on Feb. 11 from 8:30 to 3:30. Medals will be
given to those who were placed in the top three.
Scholars Bowl- There was a meet Thursday in Garden plain. The Scholars took 3rd
place with 260 points. The coach is Ms. Scribner.
Science Fair- Science Fair Participants are creating catapults by using mousetraps and
marshmallows. Mrs. Butler is the coach the meet is the same days the mathletes meet.
High School Sports- I interviewed Dalton Knox he said that the basketball team has
won two games. One of them is in the tournament. Their next game is at Wichita
Independent on Tuesday. Then, they play again on Friday at Conway. The next home
game is on Feb. 5, which is a Tuesday. Their lead point scorer is Darris Schemst.

Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball has started off to a 21-1 record. Kansas women’s
basketball is going well also with a 12-6 record. K-State Wildcats men’s basketball
record is currently14-5, and the women’s is 12-6.
The Pros
The Giants beat the Patriots in the 42nd SuperBowl. Millions were watching in awe
that the Giants upset the Patriots. The NBA all-star game will be in New Orleans.
