Spring 2016 Course Announcement CVEN‐5333 Surface Water Hydrology http://www.buffer.forestry.iastate.edu What is this class about? The hydrologic cycle is the heart of water resources engineering and the driving force behind many environmental processes. In this course, we will study the movement of water through the atmosphere, the surface, and underground, allowing us to (partially) manage the ancient problems of floods and droughts and the modern problem of water pollution. The course will also introduce HEC‐HMS and CUHP, two common software packages used in surface water hydrology. Who should take this class? Graduate students in hydrologic and hydraulic engineering, environmental and sustainability engineering, or environmental sciences. Undergraduate civil engineers interested in hydrology, now part of the Civil Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, may take this course as a technical elective after earning an A or B in CVEN‐3313.
