We offer the Diploma of Beauty Therapy as a full-time course for both national and international students. The Diploma of Beauty Therapy is a comprehensive and highly acknowledged qualification within the industry and will provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience to be a great beauty therapist and industry leader. CAREER PATHWAYS With the Diploma of Beauty Therapy you will have a broad range of career options and opportunities within the industry from salon management to working in beauty salons, day spas, health retreats, hotels, resorts and cruise liners. Careers in sales, marketing and training roles are also areas to consider and many graduates will go on to open their own businesses. ACADEMIC PATHWAYS The Ella Baché College has an academic pathway agreement with Victoria University. Diploma graduates from the Ella Baché College may be eligible to gain entry and full credit recognition towards a Bachelor of Health Science (Dermal Therapies) with Victoria University. This will take 1 year off these studies. DELIVERY MODE At the Ella Baché College of Skin and Beauty Therapy, learning involves both theoretical and practical experiences. As well as theory classes and activities, students gain practical skills in the well-equipped salons using commercial equipment and products. The College provides students with the opportunity to practise on real customers through the Ella Baché Student Salon. In the student salon, students can experience being able to provide the full range of treatment options and services found in a commercial salon. They meet clients and provide an integrated, holistic experience including determining their needs, ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: developing a treatment plan and providing a range of treatments such as waxing, facials, hand and foot care and massage. To be eligible to enrol in the Diploma of Beauty Therapy, the following entry criteria apply: It is important to note that prior to practicing on real customers, students are expected to practise on each other. It is an essential part of the learning experience at the College that students perform practical treatments on each other, including electrolysis. This enables them to experience what is the ‘philosophy’ of beauty therapy, to feel and understand what is being experienced by customers and to engage in the intimate communication experience between therapist and client. This will always be practised in accordance with industry codes of practise and ethics. Students aged 16-18 may enrol into the course at the North Sydney Campus, subject to meeting the following criteria. Students must also participate in 2 external Product Schools, determined by the College, in addition to a comprehensive internal Ella Baché Product School. WORK EXPERIENCE Students are required to complete 150 hours of external work experience in a commercial salon before they can be awarded with their qualification. Work experience will count towards the assessment of the course. Work experience will be done concurrently with study and will commence at the end of Trimester 2. COURSE DETAILS FULL TIME STUDY – 12 MONTHS 16 - 18 years • Attending an interview at the college, and • Providing supporting evidence such as year 10 school report and/OR recommendation from a Principal / Employer / Community group 18 years of age and over: Students over 18 years of age, may enrol into either the On campus or Online course, subject to meeting the following criteria: • Provide evidence of Year 12 completion, OR • Summary of work history OR Other qualification OR By recommendation HOW TO APPLY: 1. Submit online application 2. Application is reviewed, if entry requirements are met a conditional letter of offer will be issued 3. Offer must be accepted & supporting documents provided 4. Once eligibility requirements are confirmed, enrolment in the selected study mode will be finalised. *Please note: All applications are considered FOR DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS on case by case basis ensuring principles of access and equity apply. • This course duration is 12 months and includes 150 hours of work experience offered over three trimesters (39 weeks) UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI) • Each term is 13 weeks in duration • College days start at 9:00am and finish at 4:45pm • Full Time courses are three days per week A USI allows students to obtain a complete record of their VET enrolments and achievements from a single online source. This is convenient not only for students and employers, but also makes it possible for training organisations to assess prerequisites, credit transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). • Students are also required to do 150 hours of work experience in addition to normal College days As a new student you are required to obtain a USI prior to enrolling into a new course. A Statement of Attainment from the SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy will be issued for all units of competency that are completed if the full qualification is not completed. D I P LO M A I N B E A U T Y T H E R A P Y S H B 5 0115 This comprehensive and highly acknowledged qualification within the industry provides the skills, knowledge and experience to be a professional beauty therapist and industry leader. The practical workshops provide students with the opportunity to learn and be assessed on the full range of treatment options and services found in commercial salons such as waxing, facials, hand and foot care and massage. The My Ella Baché student learning portal provides students with an interactive approach to blended learning. Students can access the theory components and learning materials online but also have the opportunity to attend 5 practical workshops throughout the Diploma, where they’ll improve their skills learning from our team of professional Beauty Trainers. Students can choose where they wish to do their Practical Intensive Workshops – in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth. WORK EXPERIENCE It is important to note that students are expected to practise on each other during these workshops. Work experience can be undertaken at any salon; it is not a requirement that work experience be completed at an Ella Baché salon. Please note: Ella Baché salons are independently owned and operated; as such, not all salons can support Stellar Learners with work experience and job placement. INTENSIVE PRACTICAL WORKSHOPS You’ll achieve your Beauty Diploma with the Stellar Online Learning Program in just 2 years*, with the course duration divided into 6 trimesters, each with a compulsory practical workshop component. A range of assessments are also conducted at the workshops including written assessments. * Students may apply for a deferment for a maximum of 12 months which is subject to college approval. GETTING STARTED IN THE DIPLOMA IN BEAUTY THERAPY The Diploma of Beauty Therapy enrolment requires a non-refundable deposit of $1000 for non-VET FEE HELP students to secure a place on campus. The balance is to be paid in full prior to course commencement or instalments may be paid at the start of each term.
