Every day at Torit is a Spanish immersion day. What does
this mean? Please join Miss Jackie and Miss Carolina in a
typical day at Province Preprimary.

Talks about kitchen utensils we use on a
daily basis while we dance and move to
represent each object
“Soy una taza, una tetera,
Una cuchara, un cucharon,

(I am a cup, a teapot,

1st Circle
Starting: “Buenos días song”
“Vamos a decir la fecha en Español” (We are going to
say the date in Spanish)
“Vamos a contar en Español” (Let’s count in Spanish)
Dismissal from circle: children listen for the color of the
clothes they are wearing are wearing
“Si tu llevas camiseta blanca y pantalón azul puedes ir a
trabajar” ” (If you are wearing a white shirt and blue
pants, you can go to work”
Work Period
When doing a lesson (some examples):
Color boxes, we practice them in Spanish,
Cards and counter, we practice 1-10 in Spanish
Enrichment of vocabulary, how to describe feelings in
Spanish…
Or when they are preparing their snack I will ask: “Que
tenemos hoy?: Plátanos y galletas”(What are we having
today? Bananas and crackers)
Or if they ask me to go to the bathroom they will need to
tell me in Spanish “¿puedo ir al baño, por favor?”
2nd Circle
This month we worked on telling the temperature and
weather in Spanish. Then we made a linear graph about
the February’s weather and the winner has been: días
nublados (cloudy days)
Sometimes we read books, sing songs or play games to
continue reinforcing the vocabulary they are learning.
Spanish afternoon circles
We have started talking about how to describe ourselves:
Mi pelo es… (Mi hair is…)/ Mis ojos son…(My eyes are…)
We learned different prepositions in Spanish: “arriba” (up),
“abajo” (down) and opposites: Grande/ pequeño
(big/small), rápido, despacio (Fast/slow)…
We also request and offer snack, using the appropriate
manners in Spanish. Spanish.
