Networked Tactical Gateway (NTG)

Networked Tactical Gateway (NTG)
A complete and integrated joint
fires solution delivering certified
variable message format (VMF)
and Link 16 interoperability at a
fraction of the cost and size of
other systems in the field today.
Rockwell Collins is enabling interoperability
at the tactical edge with the Networked
Tactical Gateway (NTG). It combines
the smallest Link 16 terminal with
any UHF/VHF manpack radio and
Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC)
and Air Force System Interoperability Test
(AFSIT) certified networked joint fires
software into a rugged and shock-proof,
two-person lift case. The NTG is a complete,
off-the-shelf solution that includes
universal AC/DC power, antennas and
required software to configure, host and
translate between VMF and Link 16.
When it comes to integrating joint fires
operations and tactical data links, no one
has more experience than Rockwell Collins.
That experience includes the worldwide
fielding of the FireStorm™ integrated
targeting system, the U.S. Air Force
TACP-CASS system and the TACP Vehicular
Gateway solution. By leveraging the robust
architecture and range of Link 16, along
with the flexibility and size, weight and
power advantages of VMF, dismounted
soldiers now can achieve unprecedented
levels of interoperability.
KEY FEATURES
>> Smallest, lowest cost integrated joint
fires solution
>> Interoperable with any UHF/VHF
manpack radio
>> JITC/AFSIT certified for Link 16 VMF data
forwarding and command and control
>> Provides data-link, line-of-sight and
beyond-line-of-sight capability
>> Customizable by the user
>> Lightweight for airborne, vehicle and
two-person ground mobile operations
>> Complete, off-the-shelf solution
CUSTOMIZABLE, HIGH-EFFICIENCY PERFORMANCE
The NTG is designed to be customizable by the user to fulfill
individual data-link, line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight
translation and forwarding needs. Rockwell Collins provides basic
capabilities by equipping the gateway with the following radios:
For Link 16, the Rockwell Collins TacNet™ tactical radio. TacNet is a
90-watt, small form factor, fifth generation, fully Link 16 compliant
solution that requires no fan cooling. This provides significant
improvements over competing solutions that require forced air,
cold plates or even HVAC units. At less than 10 pounds, TacNet
is 85 percent lighter than the LVT family of terminals.
For beyond line of sight, we provide the PRC-117F/G or the PRC-150
radio. The PRC-117F/G provides access to line-of-sight and SATCOM
networks; the PRC-150 provides access to high-frequency networks.
Forwarding can occur to any attached radios.
PROVEN DATA MANAGEMENT
The key to the NTG solution is our Rosetta Technology® software.
Rosetta is a data-link translation and forwarding application
that operates on simple laptop hardware. Rosetta is currently
JITC certified for Link 16 to VMF forwarding as well as minimum
implementation for command and control on Link 16.
Rosetta manages the translation and forward between all the
radios and can provide each network with a forwarded picture
of the other networks the gateway is using. The laptop can be
operated atop the transit case for austere operations or utilized
from the operations center or a vehicle by simply using a LAN cable.
Rosetta will control all the attached radios, manage frequencies
and monitor for network health.
The NTG, housed in a hardened transit case totaling less than 120
pounds, is ground mobile. It can also be taken on board an aircraft
for roll-on/roll-off communications capabilities.

The NTG is a turnkey solution for gateway operations. Its low
weight, low cost, short setup time and simplicity of use all make it
an optimal solution for those desiring a gateway but finding vehicle
solutions financially unfeasible and tactically unsound.
