Dickinson’s Class News Mrs. Dickinson’s 2nd Grade Class August 17, 2014 [email protected] Here is what we are learning…….. Math: Place value; ones, tens, hundreds. Addition and subtraction to 99. Review math facts regularly for speed and fluency. Writing: How to become a great writer. Students are being introduced to writer’s workshop. We are learning what a good writer looks like and sounds like during writer’s workshop. Reading: How to use the literacy centers that will be available during our reading group time. Also, we will learn how to take care of books at home and at school. Students are expected to read 20-30 minutes every night. Please fill in the time on their reading log daily. Social Studies: Georgia; Regions and Rivers Science: Changing seasons-Summer Language Arts/Words Their Way: Compound words, Antonyms, blends Requests from Art: Happy Birthday! Clean out papers, and record their reading every night. *Your child may bring a snack and a water bottle (water only) to school every day. *Please send any lunch money, notes or correspondence to me through your child’s folder. *All transportation changes should be in writing in your child’s folder. *Please send in a pair of head phones or earbuds for your child’s use in the computer lab and in the classroom (not mandatory)
