Bulletin Board Challenge Directions
Congratulations on participating in the Bulletin Board Challenge. This challenge is important because not only
do our members take note of nice looking bulletin boards, but so does management. Great looking bulletin
boards indicate to members and management alike that our Union “has it together.”
Here are the steps we need you to take to make the Bulletin Board Challenge as successful as possible:
1. Identify where all the bulletin boards in your Local/Chapter are located (or where we are entitled to a
bulletin board… read you contract to see what our Union Rights are) and get a measurement of each
space.
2. Identify bulletin board czar(s) to be assigned to update each board. While leaders may update the
boards initially, we want to identify an emerging leader at each location to update as needed (it may
only be putting up the new newsletter, but engage membership to take on this simple task and use this
as a power building exercise.
3. Create a Steward/Union Officials list using the worksheet to generate the list for the boards in the
template style to match your bulletin boards.
4. Put in your order for you bulletin boards based on the number and sizes of your bulletin boards.
a. Chose the template that you want for your Local/Chapter.
b. Based on the size of your boards, determine what items you want and the proper sizes of each
item. It may be helpful to work with your Business Agent (who can print out the templates) to
layout what you want your board to look like beforehand for each size board. This will help you
in putting in the correct order.
