PCC TofR Member Contract 2016-17

Tournament of Roses Honor Band
2016-2017
Member Application and Contract
Currently enrolled members of the Lancer Marching Band and Color Guard in
good standing are invited to participate in the Tournament of Roses Honor Band and Pageantry.
Good standing means that attendance has been, and will remain, consistently good with minimal
tardies & absences and no unexcused absences from a performance. Remember 6 absences
(band) 4 absences (guard) is equivalent to two weeks of missing class and may result in being
dropped from Music 61 (marching band) and consequently Music 55. Three tardies equals one
absence.
We will have over 400 hundred high school students planning to attend our upcoming auditions.
Please do not take a spot in the honor band if you are unsure if you can or will fully participate.
As a perspective member of the honor band it is important that every student who chooses to
participate understand the full level of the commitment involved.
EXPECTATIONS:
1. Students must attend and arrive on time to all scheduled Honor Band rehearsals (schedule
available at pccband.com). Missing for work, other classes and other outside activities is
not permitted. Students who miss a rehearsal for an unexcused reason may be removed
from the Honor Band.
2. All parade music, exercises and the national anthem must be completely memorized in a
timely manner. Students must be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of musical
precision on all performance music.
3. As a college student it is expected that they will set a high standard of musical and
personal integrity for the high school members.
Signing this contract/application means that you, the student, are agreeing to abide by all the
stated policies.
If a student’s attendance falters in the Lancer Marching Band and Color Guard it may cause for
the student’s removal from the honor band.
•
All Percussion and Guard students wishing to be considered for the honor band must
attend the auditions on Sunday, October 9. Report times are no later than 8:30 (Guard)
and 9:30am (Percussion) for check-in. No show means no participation.
•
Trumpeters wishing to be considered for the Herald Trumpets must also audition on Oct.
9 (no make-ups) or make arrangements to audition for Kevin Brown before Oct. 9.
Trumpeters will be assigned to parts at the discretion of the director and instructors.
•
Wind Players may be asked to perform both a chromatic scale and memorization excerpt.
Any wind player wishing to play a different instrument than what they are currently
playing must receive prior approval from Mr. Luck and may be required to audition on
Oct. 9 (no make-ups).
