Purpose
This document will assist the user in connecting and configuring the Cisco SPA303 VoIP Phone to function
as an intercom for the Sync Scoring System.

Overview
When a center is equipped with Sync Tablets, a SPA303 VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) Phone
is used to provide intercom capability. To provide this capability, the phone must be connected to the
Sync network. Normally this is accomplished by using the phone’s pass-thru feature and connecting the
phone, in-line, between the network switch and a Sync computer. In situations where the phone is not
conveniently located near a Sync computer, the phone can be connected directly to the network switch using
an independent cable, without continuing to the Sync computer. The Phone/Intercom will require minor
assembly, cable connection, and basic configuration before use. Refer to Figure 1.

Assembly and Cable Connections
1. Unbox and attach the Phone Stand (1) to the Phone Base (2). Refer to Figure 2.
2. Plug the short end of the Handset Cord (4) into the Handset (3) and the long end into the Handset
Cord Port (6) located on the back of the Phone Base (2). Refer to Figure 2.
3.Route the Handset Cord through the Handset Cord Slot (5) . Refer to Figure 2.

NOTE: If using the network pass-thru feature of the phone, take special note of the Ethernet port
currently used by the Sync computer to connect to the scoring (Sync) network prior to disconnecting
the cable in step 4,. Make sure to use the exact same port when connecting the phone. Since some
desk computers have more than one Ethernet port, it is very important to use the same port.
4. Connect the phone to the Sync Network.
Method 1 (Pass-Thru):
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Sync computer (4) and connect it to the SW port (3) on
the Phone Base (1). Using the Ethernet cable included with the intercom (7), connect one end to
the PC port (2) on the Phone Base (1). Connect the other end to the original Ethernet port on the
Sync computer (4). Refer to Figure 3.
Method 2 (Independent):
Connect the existing Ethernet cable, originating from the Sync system ethernet switch, to the SW
port (3) on the Phone Base (1). Refer to Figure 3.
5.Plug in the AC adaptor of the Power Cord (10) to an appropriate power outlet and insert the other
end of the Power Cord (10) into the Power Port (9) on the Phone Base (1). Refer to Figure 3.
NOTE: Please allow 1-3 minutes for the phone to fully startup/reboot.

Configuration and Setup
1. The IP (internet protocol) address of the phone will be required to continue the setup procedure.
Use the following steps to obtain the address assigned to the phone. Refer to Figure 4.
A. Press the Setup Button (1).
B. Press the Navigation Button Down Arrow (2) until the selection 9 Network (3) is highlighted
C. Use the left Softkey (4) to select the highlighed selection.
D.The Current IP (5) will display on the screen.
E. Note this IP address number for the next step.

2. On the desk computer, open the web browser Internet Explorer
3. In the URL bar, type the IP address found on the phone in step 1. At the end of the address type
add /admin/basic.
EXAMPLE: Using IP Address as found in step 1: 192.168.100.62/admin/basic
Press Enter to connect to a web page in the phone. No login is required. Refer to Figure 5.

4. Once the Cisco SPA303 Configuration Utility loads, Click on the EXT 1 Tab. Refer to Figure 6.

5. Set the following parameters found under the EXT 1 tab:
A. Proxy and Registration Section (Refer to Figure 7):
1) Set the Proxy to the IP Address of the server
The IP Address for the server will be the same first 3 sets of numbers as the phone’s IP Address as identified in step 1, followed by .1
Example of Server IP using the address found in step 1 of this procedure:
192.168.100.62 >>>> 192.168.100.1
2) Change the Register Expires Value
Value: 60

B. Subscriber Information Section (Refer to Figure 8):
1) Set the Display name. Choose and input a display name for the handset. All the other handsets on the network will use this name to identify the handset.
Example Headset Name: Desk1
2) Enter Password: Brunswick
3) Set the Auth ID -The Auth ID is the extenstion for the headset. It should be set to the 2000
range. If this is the first headset, set it to 2001. If it is the second, set it to 2002 and so on.
4) Set the User ID - This value should be the same as the Auth ID setting.

NOTE: The Extension Information for the interom system is as follows:
Lanes are in the 1000 range. Example: Lane #1 is 1001, Lane #10 is 1010.
Handsets are in the 2000 range. Example: Handset #1 is 2001, Handset #2 is 2002.
6.Click on the Phone tab. Refer to Figure 9.

7. Set the following parameters found under the Phone tab1 tab:
A. Audio Input Gain (dB) Section (Refer to Figure 10):
1) Set the Handset Input Gain to 6
3) Set the Handset Additional Input Gain to 3.

8. Submit All Changes (Refer to Figure 11):
2) Set the Speakerphone Input Gain to 6

Click Submit All Changes at the bottom on the page.
B. Close the Internet Explorer web browser when finished.

9.Open Sync Office. Sign in with a user with Administrator credentials. Refer to Figure 12.
A. Click the Lanes Tab, then click Experience Settings.

10. Enable the intercom for the Experience Settings. Refer to Figure 13 and Figure 14.

Select an Experience Setting and click the edit button.
Select the check mark next to Allow Intercom to enable the intercom for that specific
Experience Setting.
Repeat for all listed Experience Settings that require the intercom to be available.

11. Reboot all tablets. Refer to Figures 15 - 18.

Open the Desk application.
Select all lanes and click the More button.
Click Display Power under the Settings section.
Uncheck the Display Controller and Check Tablet.
Click the Reboot button and OK to begin the reboot process.

Test and Verify
1. Verify the intercom system is functioning properly by placing a test call to a lane.
A. Pick up the Headset and press 1 with the 3 digit lane number followed by #.
For example, to call lane 1 dial: 1001#.
Troubleshooting
1. In rare circumstances, if the test call fails, reboot all tablets by power cycling each one with the
power supply. Simply unplug the power cable, wait 15-30 seconds, and plug the power cable back
into the power supply. After reboot, perform another test call.
2. Verify intercom is enabled for the experience setting in use.
