TriboDyn® FAQ’s ® Why should I use TriboDyn instead of other engine treatments? TriboDyn® is engineered to reduce friction & wear, will perform under extreme pressure & heat, help prevent galling & micro welding, and is capable of handling temperatures well over 1150C/2100F, and can carry loads up to 350,000 psi. TriboDyn® is also designed to (confirmed by independent testing) increase fuel mileage up to 10%, reduce part wear, increase horsepower & torque, improve ring seal, reduce oil consumption, reduce coolant temperature, reduce engine oil leakage, is compatible and mixes with all standard, synthetic and mineral oils used in gasoline & diesel engines. Normal lubricants/oils have a maximum pressure they can work at, before they “cold flow” and offer minimal to no protection. Generally High Performance additives/lubricants such as Moly, Graphite, PTFE, Zinc and others are used. These will protect and offer protection up to a certain point, and some are better than others. TriboDyn’s engineered package exceeds the protective levels of these materials. TriboDyn® Recommended Uses? All engine crankcases, standard transmissions, open, locker or spool type differentials. TriboDyn® NOT recommended for: Automatic transmissions, positraction type differentials or anything with a clutch type engagement unit. How often should I change my oil? We recommend you change your oil and filter every 3,000 miles, or according to the manufacturer recommendations. However, many of our customers find that their oil is still clean at this point ® because of TriboDyn ability to cut friction and wear. They will then make the decision to extend oil and filter changes accordingly. ® How much TriboDyn should I use? ® Add 1oz of TriboDyn to crankcase for each quart of oil capacity, during or after oil change. We recommend re-treating the engine after each oil change. The next 2 oil changes after 1st treatment, ® only add 1/2oz of TriboDyn to crankcase for each quart of oil capacity, on 4th oil change, add full treatment of 1oz of TriboDyn® to crankcase for each quart of oil capacity, and so on. For best results ® add TriboDyn to a warm engine. Will adding TriboDyn® to my engine change the color of my oil? Yes, adding TriboDyn® will change the oil color to a Silvery Grey color, we call TriboDyn® Grey. ® Will TriboDyn engine treatment affect my car’s acceleration? ® Yes it will. TriboDyn dramatically reduces the friction and drag, improving acceleration. ® Can I use TriboDyn with my boat engine? ® TriboDyn works well in marine engines. It should be used in the same manner as automotive & diesel engines. It is also used in the lower unit gear box where the propeller is located. ® How does TriboDyn work with diesel engines? ® Independent tests confirm that TriboDyn increases fuel mileage up to 10%, reduce part wear, increase horsepower & torque, improve ring seal, reduce oil consumption, reduce coolant temperature, reduce engine oil leakage & increases the cranking speed of cold diesels. Naturally, easier starting means that your battery life should be greatly extended, as well! Users report startling ® acceleration with diesels using TriboDyn . ® Can I use TriboDyn engine lubricant in my differential? Yes you can, if it is not a Positraction type unit and/or uses clutches. Treat rate is 1 ounce of ® ® TriboDyn to each quart of high grade differential oil. TriboDyn will also reduce wear and help the differential run cooler. ® Will TriboDyn improve my fuel economy? ® It will. Reduced friction means better fuel efficiency with TriboDyn . In spite of the wide variations of ® engines and drivers, independent tests have shown significant improvement, TriboDyn increases fuel mileage up to 10%. ® How does TriboDyn impact fuel injection? Fuel injected engines are self-adjusting; automatically idle themselves back when the lubricant is ® improved with TriboDyn . How does TriboDyn ® , affect my idle speed? ® On older engines it is not at all unusual for the idle speed to increase when TriboDyn is used. If the engine block has warped or has serious internal friction problems, the improvement with TriboDyn® can be quite dramatic. It will be less noticeable in engines that are in tip-top shape. ® Does TriboDyn engine treatment, work with motorcycles? TriboDyn® works extremely well in 4-cycle engines that have a separate sump for their oil (never mix ® ® with gasoline. Do not use TriboDyn in a wet clutch, since TriboDyn is an anti-friction lubricant. If the oil in the engine is also used to lubricate the transmission and clutch (wet clutch) do not use TriboDyn®. What about my new car warranty? ® Your new car warranty will not be affected by using TriboDyn . We do recommend that you run your ® new car between 1,000-3,000 miles before adding TriboDyn to your engine oil. ® Will using TriboDyn help with an engine that burns oil? ® Many old engines show signs of oil burning. Independent tests have shown TriboDyn improves ring ® seal, which will increase fuel mileage and reduce oil consumption. TriboDyn can also help in some cases by freeing up partially sticking piston rings. There have been some dramatic improvements ® reported from the field where TriboDyn freed up the rings and they started working properly again. However If the rings are cemented solid in their grooves or the cylinder is scored, no lubricant can eliminate the smoking. ® Will TriboDyn harm my oil filter? ® Not at all, TriboDyn is formulated from base ingredients that will not clog or interfere with normal oil filtration. The critical lubricants will not be filtered out by standard or high performance filtration systems with screens/filters of 5 microns or greater. ® Does TriboDyn work with older engines? ® Yes. However, before adding TriboDyn , if you have an old classic that ran on oils before 1950, we recommend taking the engine apart and physically cleaning the sludge out of the crankcase and out of the valve covers, using current detergent oil can stir that material up and cause problems. ® Can I use TriboDyn with synthetic oils? TriboDyn® is compatible and mixes with all synthetic, standard, and mineral oils used in gasoline & diesel engines! ® Should I use TriboDyn in my transmission? TriboDyn® can be used in all manual transmissions, and will help reduce the wear and temperature of the manual transmission. TriboDyn® is NOT Recommended for Automatic transmissions. ® How does TriboDyn work with turbo chargers? ® Turbo-charged engines work extremely well with TriboDyn in the crankcase. ® How does TriboDyn affect engine wear? TriboDyn® is engineered to reduce friction & wear, will perform under extreme pressure & heat, help prevent galling & micro welding, and is capable of handling temperatures well over 1150C/2100F, and ® can carry loads up to 350,000 psi. TriboDyn can provide friction reduction and wear protection at a level beyond other traditional oil additives on the market. ® Can I add TriboDyn to wheel bearing grease? ® Wheel bearing and chassis greases benefit from the addition of TriboDyn . Don't use too much or the ® stiffness of the grease will be lost. It will become too fluid. Mix about one part TriboDyn to ten parts grease. Mix thoroughly so the final product is uniform. Remember! In disk brake cars, the disks get ® very hot due to braking, not friction from the bearings. If you use too much TriboDyn , the grease's melting point can drop too low and cause it to run out of the bearing. Can you explain the TriboDyn® 3 Stage Technology? TriboDyn® 1st stage: is the first level of protection, uses the best material and in the best “form”. The critical material is actually attracted by heat, being drawn to points of friction. Once temperatures near 700F are experienced, these type of additives can begin to degrade, and friction and temperature increase eventually reaching the point where galling & micro welding occurs. TriboDyn® 2nd stage: contains a second layer of protection by utilizing a lubrication “package” that operates above 700F and is designed to offer protection to the point where TriboDyn’s™ 3rd stage begins. TriboDyn’s® 3rd stage: third level of protection starts to operate at a given temperature & load and is designed to form a self-lubricating Ceramic Film, of less than 4 microns/0.00015” in thickness, that will immediately reduce friction even at very elevated temperatures (over 1150C/2100F). This Film is designed to form a bond to the substrate. The film will only form at the initial point of load. Once friction and load is reduced by the film, the film is no longer formed on that surface. At the point where galling would normally occur the film is seen as a dark spot on the part. This is not a permanent layer on all parts however the critical ingredients that create the self-lubricating Ceramic Film are still in circulation and continue to protect the engine.
