Summer is right around the corner and if it's anything like last
year the hot temperatures can be very dangerous or deadly to
your pet. Here are some tips to keep your pet safe. Below is a
great chart if you have any question on what temp is to hot for
your pet.

*Water & Shade: Always make sure your pet has plenty of fresh
cool water, keep bowls out of the sun to avoid algae. Shaded trees
are always great. Another idea is a tarp that provides not only
shade but sufficient air flow. Dog houses can trap heat with little
to no air flow so they are not always the best for shade.
*Pool: The small kid pools are great! I have seen many pups who
love to take a dip in the pool. With the kid pool they are small
and shallow so if your not home they can still enjoy a fun puppy
pool party!
* Cool Treats: Some fun ideas are Pupsicles! Nice frozen treats
are always a great & yummy idea. Below is a recipe or you can
visit my website under the Liz's Favorites (Coming Soon) tab for
some more yummy pet safe recipes.

*Heatstroke Signs: Watch for the following and always
remember to contact your vet if there is ever a concern. Heavy
panting, glazed eyes, rapid heartbeat, breathing differently,
excessive thirst, lethargy, fever, dizziness, lack of coordination,
profuse salivation, vomiting, red or purple tongue, seizure and/or
unconsciousness.
Always remember you can rely on your SPS pet sitter to help out
when needed!
Peanut Butter Pupsicles
1 cup peanut butter (make sure there is NO Xylitol which is
toxic to dogs)

1/2 banana mashed
In small bowl combine peanut butter and banana mix adding a
little water. Once ingredients are mixed you can add to kong toy
or spoon into tray and freeze overnight. Next day your pups can
enjoy! I have even seen the peanut butter mix added to the
middle of a cored out apple and frozen, those looked pretty
yummy (just make sure all seeds are removed when coring apple).
