Participants will analyse to what extent the demands of the Greek government have influenced the European policies to deal with the crisis and balanced mainstream pro-austerity policies. They will also address the geopolitical dimension of the crisis and Greece’s closer ties with non-Western powers. Participants will discuss the European foreign policy of the Greek government and other political forces, both under a government-to-government perspective and the relations with European institutions and among European political forces, including new left movements in other Southern European states. It will review the initiatives of Member States and the policy proposals of European institutions, both from a political perspective to tackle the democratic legitimacy deficit and an economic one aimed at redesigning the foundations of the Eurozone.
