Kindergarten Lemonade

The Dinosaurs are making Lemonade.
Lets make Lemonade.
Sam– I once made a lemonade stand and I sold it to people. I did it with my cousins. I have a
lot of cousins. Yes, and we can sale it to people. I know how to make lemonade. I made it at
home.
You mean sell it for money?
Sam- Yes.
How much money did you make?
Sam– I don’t remember.
Let say we are going to sell LEMONADE, what are we going to do with the money?
All-We’ll donate it to poor people, they all agree.
To which people are we going to sell the lemonade to?
Isaac– to parents that come to pick their children up.
Why do you thing they are going to buy lemonade?
Zalman– Because, it his hot outside, it is nice to have something cold on a hot day.
Ilan– We can give it to then in cups.
How much money are we going to ask for a cup?
Ilan– five dollar.
Isaac– No, no, this is too much.
Zalman– how about one dollar.
Sam- How about fi(y cents.
A(er a long discussion, they agree on 50 cents.
How will the people know we are selling lemonade?
Ilan– we’ll tell them.
Isaac– I say lets make a sign, Lemonade for sale.
The Dinosaurs started working on a big sign. Then, they
set their lemonade stand up by the entrance of the
school.
They were busy approaching parents and asked them if they would like to buy fresh yummy
lemonade.
What are we going to do with the money?
Isaac– buy some toys for poor people.
Ilan– By more food for us {Moriah}
Zalman– Give the money to poor people.
Sam– we are doing a mitzvah by giving the money away.
What is a mitzvah?
Ilan– Helping people.
Izaac– It means giving money to poor people.
Sam– Tzdakah means pu1ng money in the box.
Zalman– I say, let put the money in the bank and deposit it for
College. So you can buy staff.
So, you mean that the money will go to you in your bank?
Zalman– Yes, for me.
Isaac– This is not fair. It is bad idea.
Ilan- Lets draw our names on peace of paper, if you pick your name then it will be yours.
I thought that you are going to sell the lemonade so you can help poor people, isn’t that
what you said in the beginning?
They all said, Yes
Have you ever seen a poor person?
They all sais, No.
Zalman– Poor people don’t work, this is
why they poor.
You keep saying that the money should go to poor people, how can we know who these people are.?
Isaac– We can just ask them “Are you poor.”
Teacher- I don’t think that this is nice or polite.
Ilan– No, no we are going to ask them politely, with please and thank you.
I s9ll don’t think it will work. We can’t approach a person and asked “excuse me are poor?”
Zalman– Put both hands on his mouth and he said in a quite voice, “we can asked then quietly
if they are poor.”
The children then counted the money. They had a few bowls for sor+ng the money into
different categories. They named each coin while pu-ng it in the right bowl. We then
learned that if you have four quarters it makes one dollar, and if you’ll have ten dimes it
will also be one dollar. We also learned that you need two dimes and one nickel to have a
quarter, and a nickel is five cents.
They all agree that the money that they collected, $23. 74, will be put in the tzdakka box so
the lions class can add some more throughout the year so they can do something
meaningful with it.
Ilan– Yeah, we are helping the Lions, this is nice!
