APPLICATION

Let the Spirit search your heart and actions. Repent immediately for anything that is
revealed. Share with a trusted friend who will help you grow.

Think of an area where you have hurt someone by your words, action or neglect. Instead of
wallowing in guilt, do something to help make the situation better.

Do something purposeful this week to help someone who has been treated unjustly.
Spend time praying for government and spiritual leaders.

Getting to Know You
1. What advertising jingle/song did you sing most as a child? What did the people around you do when
you sang it?
Digging Deeper
2. Looking back at your notes from this week’s teaching, was there anything that particularly caught your
attention, challenged or confused you?
3. Justice Befits Leadership: Read Psalm 72:1-8. This is a prayer for the king. According to these
verses, what are the benefits of having a just leader?
4. Unjust Leadership Values: Compare Micah 3:2 with Psalm 97:10. What can we learn from these
verses?
Read Psalm 141:3-5. What can we do to protect our heart and our values from being corrupted?
5. Unjust Leadership Actions: In chapter 3:2-3 Micah uses a dramatic metaphor for abuse of power and
authority. According to this metaphor, what emotions do God and Micah have when witnessing abuse?
Why is this important?
6. Unjust Leadership Consequences: James 3:1 warns of a stricter judgment for teachers. Micah 3:4
warns of a time when the powerful will become powerless. Why is God tougher on leaders? How
should this affect us in the areas where we teach or lead?
